The Poco F5 is now official in the global market (including India), and it is a rebranded Redmi Note 12 Turbo that launched in China in March. The USP of this phone is its SOC. The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SOC, which has the same core configuration for the CPU as the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, just that the clock speeds are lower.
Poco F5 has the same three color options as the Note 12 Turbo, but there is no change in the back design, something Poco likes to do in its rebranded Redmi phones. The phone has flat sides, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, and an IR blaster. The phone is quite slim at 7.9mm and weighs 181g. There is no camera island on this phone.
Regarding the specs, Poco F5 is powered by Snapdragon 7+ Gen 2 SOC. This chip is built on the TSMC 4nm process, and the CPU has the prime Cortex-X2 core clocked at up to 2.91GHz. This chipset can be considered an underclocked Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1, which tells a lot about its power! On the AnTuTu benchmark, the chip scores around 970,000 points.
For better thermals, the phone has LiquidCool Technology 2.0, which includes a 3725mm square Vapor Chamber area and 10000mm square total graphite area.
The display is a 6.67-inch AMOLED, and the bezels are pretty slim (2.22mm chin), resulting in a 93.4% screen-to-body ratio. The panel has 1000 nits peak brightness and 120Hz refresh rate. This is a 10-bit display with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ support.
The battery size is 5,000mAh, and the phone supports 67W wired charging.
The triple-camera setup includes a 64MP primary sensor with an f/1.79 lens and OIS, an 8MP ultrawide camera with 119-degree FOV, and a 2MP macro camera. For selfies, the phone has a 32MP sensor. There is support for 4K video recording but limited to 30fps. The selfie camera supports up to 1080p 60fps video recording.
Finally, Poco F5 runs on MIUI 14 out of the box.
Poco F5 comes in three colors – Black, White & Blue. The price starts at $379 / ₹29,999.
