The Oppo Find X7 & Find X7 Ultra were launched in January this year with a premium design and impressive camera. The Find X7 Ultra featured two periscope telephoto cameras, the first for any smartphone. Today, the Oppo Find X8 series was launched in the Chinese market, featuring the Find X8 & Find X8 Pro. It is worth mentioning that there was no “Find X7 Pro,” so we wonder if we are getting a “Find X8 Ultra” or not.
OPPO FIND X8
Starting with the vanilla model, the Oppo Find X8 looks quite different from its predecessor. There is no longer a boxy design as the phone has more rounded corners. Moreover, the phone no longer has a curved display and instead uses a flat display with symmetrical and slim bezels. The phone is IP68/69 rated and supports wireless charging. There is an aluminum frame and a glass back. The phone is pretty slim at 7.85mm, and the weight is 193g. There is an alert slider on the left.
The display on the front has symmetrical bezels, measuring 1.45mm. This is a 6.59-inch 1.5K 10-bit LTPO AMOLED with a peak brightness of 4,500 nits and a 120Hz refresh rate. There is an optical under-display fingerprint scanner.
Under the hood, the Find X8 has the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 SOC, which scores over 3 Million points on the AnTuTu benchmark. For better thermals, the phone has a vapor chamber. There is 12GB or 16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB or 512GB or 1TB UFS 4.0 storage.
The battery is 5,630mAh, and the phone supports 80W wired charging alongside 50W wireless charging.
Speaking of cameras, the Oppo Find X8 has a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 1/1.56″ 50MP Sony LYT-700 sensor with OIS. The ultrawide camera uses a 50MP Samsung HN5 sensor. Finally, there is a periscope telephoto camera with a 50MP Sony IMX882 sensor, 3x optical zoom, and OIS. For selfies, there is a 32MP sensor.
It is worth mentioning that the Oppo Find X8 doesn’t use the traditional prism arrangement for the periscope telephoto camera that we have seen on so many phones so far. Instead, it uses a “triple” prism design to reduce the amount of space taken by the periscope camera.
Finally, the phone runs on ColorOS 15.

OPPO FIND X8 PRO
The Oppo Find X8 Pro is the premium flagship that offers some extra features over the vanilla model. The design is different, as the phone does not have the same flat-frame design as the Find X8. Instead, it has a rounded frame, and the glass on the front is slightly curved on all four sides.
One of the unique design aspects of the Pro model is the dedicated button on the side. You can open the camera app by double-pressing it, use it as a shutter button, and zoom in and out of the images.
The chipset remains the same as the vanilla model, the Dimensity 9400. For comparison, the Find X7 Ultra featured a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SOC. There is a large 5,910mAh battery with 80W wired and 50W wireless charging support.
The camera setup is the main USP of this phone. The Oppo Find X8 Pro has a quad camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 1/1.4″ 50MP Sony LYT-808 sensor with OIS. The ultrawide camera has the same 50MP Samsung HN5 sensor as the vanilla model. The 3x periscope telephoto camera is also the same as the vanilla model. The fourth camera has a periscope lens with a 1/2.51” 50MP Sony IMX858 sensor, a 6x optical zoom, and OIS.
The display on the front is a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED with a 1.5K resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
Finally, ColorOS runs out of the box.
