Hands on images of Nokia TA-1198 with triple cameras leaked

A mysterious upcoming Nokia smartphone showed up in hands-on images today that were shared by a Weibo user. Now, the user didn’t reveal the name of this upcoming device from HMD Global, but the photos did reveal that the model number is TA-1198. The codename of the phone is “daredevil” and it is a mid-ranger from the company.

As you can see in the hands-on images above, the Nokia TA-1198 has a waterdrop notch on the front & a big bottom bezel with Nokia branding on it. We have seen big notches like on Nokia 5.1 Plus to the U-shaped notches like on Nokia 2.2, but it’s the first time we have seen a waterdrop notch on a Nokia device.

On the rear, there is a circular camera module with three cameras. The third camera seems like a depth sensor.

As the EXIF data shows, Nokia TA-1198 has a 48 Megapixel primary camera with f/1.8 aperture lens on the phone. Another shot shows that it can take 12MP photos with pixel-binning. It is hard to say if the phone has a Sony IMX 586 or Samsung GM1 sensor. The camera interface has a button to switch to the wide-angle mode, so this confirms the presence of a second wide-angle camera as well.

The USB Type-C port is placed on the bottom with the single speaker grill and the primary mic. The power button is on the right along with the volume rockers, and on the left, there is an extra button (most likely for Google Assistant) & the SIM card tray. The headphone jack is there as well, and it’s present on top as shown by the case cutout.

The About Phone section shows the model number TA-1198 & Andriod version as 9, i.e., Pie.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor powers the Nokia TA-1198, so it is most likely a Nokia 5 or Nokia 6 series device. Also, there is a 3,500mAh battery under the hood.
