Nokia 8.3 5G goes official with Snapdragon 765G & Quad Cameras

At the March 19th event, HMD Global launched a few new Nokia smartphones, and the Nokia 8.3 5G was the star of the show. As the name shows, it is the first 5G smartphone from Nokia but what’s more interesting is the fact that it is the World’s first ‘truly Global’ 5G phone.

What does that mean? Well, it means it supports more 5G bands than any other 5G smartphone currently in the market. In typical Nokia fashion, this phone doesn’t come cheap, and you’ll have to shell out around €599 ($647) for the base variant. Keep in mind that it isn’t a flagship but rather a mid-range device.

Design-wise, the phone looks pretty different compared to any other Nokia device launched previously, mainly due to the circular camera setup on the rear that has Quad cameras in it & the ZEISS branding in the middle. The LED flash is placed outside the camera module. It is no surprise that the phone not only looks premium but feels premium, thanks to the metal & glass build.

There is a punch-hole display on the front & it is a 6.81-inch IPS LCD panel with Full-HD+ resolution, 120Hz refresh rate & 20:9 aspect ratio. Thanks to the PureDisplay technology, the screen can upscale SDR content to HDR. Under the hood, there is Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G SOC which features an integrated 5G modem. There is 6/8GB LPDDR4X RAM paired with 64/128GB internal storage.

For memory expansion, there is a microSD card slot as well.

The Quad camera setup on the rear includes a primary 64 Megapixel sensor, a secondary 12 Megapixel sensor with an ultra-wide-angle lens, a third 2 Megapixel sensor with macro lens & a fourth 2 Megapixel depth sensor. The camera on the front is a 24 Megapixel unit. The battery underneath is a 4,500mAh unit & the phone supports 18W fast charging.

The Nokia 8.3 5G comes in a gorgeous Polar Night colour & the pricing is as follows –

  • 6GB + 64GB – €599
  • 8GB + 128GB – €649

The phone will go on sale this summer.
