Meizu is a brand known for its beautiful smartphone designs. In 2021, the Meizu 18 series was the flagship smartphone series from the brand, but last year, we did not get the Meizu 19 series. Later, the company revealed that it was canceled. However, after being away for a year, the company is back in the smartphone market. The Meizu 20 series launched in China, including three phones.
MEIZU 20
Design-wise, both phones look almost the same. The Meizu 20 has a boxy design with flat sides and a flat display. There are three cameras on the rear & the phone has a ring LED flash. The selfie camera sits in the hole punch cutout. The phone is 7.99mm thick & the display has almost symmetrical bezels, resulting in a 93.7% screen-to-body ratio. There are stereo speakers but no 3.5mm headphone jack.
The display is a 6.55-inch Full-HD+ OLED with a 144Hz refresh rate & an under-display fingerprint scanner. It is also worth mentioning that this is not an Optical in-display scanner but rather an ultrasonic in-display scanner seen on some of the most expensive flagship phones in the market. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset is under the hood, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. It is good to see Meizu offering UFS 4.0 storage & LPDDR5X RAM from the vanilla model.
Coming to the cameras, Meizu 20 has three on the back. The primary camera has a 50MP Samsung GN5 sensor with an f/1.88 lens, the ultrawide camera has a 16MP sensor, and the macro camera has a 5MP sensor. The primary camera has OIS support and can shoot 8K videos too. The selfie camera has a 32MP sensor.
The phone has a 4,700mAh battery & supports 67W fast wired charging. Finally, the phone runs on FlymeOS 10 out of the box.
Meizu 20 comes in four colors & starts at ¥2999 (~$436).
MEIZU 20 PRO
Meizu 20 Pro goes one step further & has even more features than the vanilla model. First, the phone is bigger than the vanilla model, thanks to a bigger & sharper display. It is a 6.81-inch Quad-HD+ LTPO OLED display with a 1-120Hz refresh rate. Second, the phone gets upgraded camera sensors & hence the LED flash module is placed separately, giving an impression of a Quad camera setup, even though there are three cameras. All three cameras have a 50MP sensor & instead of a macro camera, the Meizu 20 Pro has a third telephoto camera.
The battery is 5,000mAh & the phone supports 80W fast wired charging and 50W fast wireless charging.
Meizu 20 Pro comes in three colors & starts at ¥3999 (~$581).
MEIZU 20 INFINITY
The third phone in this series is the Meizu 20 Infinity. The main USP is the design since it has a display with 2.48mm bezels all around. The frame is made of stainless steel.
There is a 6.79-inch Quad-HD+ 21:9 LTPO OLED display with a 1-120Hz refresh rate, 10-bit color depth, & 1800 nits peak brightness.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chip is under the hood, with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The primary camera has a 50MP sensor, the ultrawide camera has a 12MP sensor & the telephoto camera has a 12MP sensor. The battery is 4,800mAh & the phone supports 65W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
Meizu 20 Infinity comes in three colors & starts at ¥6299 (~$916).
The company has not announced global launch plans, so these phones are China-only. The sale starts on April 3.
