iQOO Z9 set to launch in India on March 12

Powered by MediaTek Dimensity 7200!

The iQOO Z8 was launched in China in August last year, featuring a MediaTek Dimensity 8200 SOC. The phone never made it outside the Chinese market, but the brand has now started teasing the launch of the iQOO Z9 in India.

It is worth mentioning that, usually, the Indian variants are different than the Chinese variants. For example, the iQOO Z7 in India was launched with a Dimensity 920 SOC, but the Chinese variant had a Snapdragon 782G chipset.

iQOO has already revealed the design of the Z9 for the Indian market. The phone features a square-shaped camera island on the rear with two circles, each having a camera sensor. The official images reveal the green color option which has a unique pattern on the back.

The official teasers have also revealed that the iQOO Z9 is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 chipset. This is the same chip that is used in the iQOO Z7 Pro in India. The primary rear camera on the iQOO Z9 has a Sony IMX882 sensor, the same camera sensor that the recently launched Realme 12 Pro has.

As per the official teasers, the iQOO Z9 is the segment’s first phone with a Sony IMX882. Since the Realme 12 Pro starts at ₹25,999, it means the iQOO Z9 will be priced under ₹25,000 in India. Moreover, the brand claims the phone is the fastest in the segment, thanks to the Dimensity 7200. And going by the brand’s record, we won’t be surprised if the iQOO Z9 launches at around ₹20,000.

As per leaks, the iQOO Z9 has a 6.6″ 120Hz AMOLED display, a 2MP secondary depth sensor on the rear, OIS for the primary rear camera, a 16MP selfie camera, a 5,000mAh battery, and 44W fast charging.
