Five months after the launch of iQOO Z7 & iQOO Z7x, the brand launched its successors in the Chinese market – iQOO Z8 & iQOO Z8x. Both are mid-range 5G phones with a similar design language and different spec sheets. It is unknown whether iQOO will launch these phones outside China since the iQOO Z7 & Z7x did not make it outside China. Yes, the iQOO Z7 5G was launched in India, but it was a completely different phone.

iQOO Z8x

iQOO Z8x

The iQOO Z8x looks quite different from the Z7x, at least from the rear. There is no longer a two-tone design for the camera module. The camera module has a dual camera setup and an LED flash. The sides are flat, and the power button doubles as the fingerprint scanner.

The phone has a USB Type-C port on the bottom with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a speaker grill.

The iQOO Z7x was launched with Snapdragon 695 chipset, whereas the iQOO Z8x comes with the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1. This chip was announced last year and is built on the 4nm process. Compared to the Snapdragon 695 chip inside the Z7x, the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 offers up to 25% better CPU & 30% better GPU performance.

The RAM type is LPDDR4X, and the storage is UFS 2.2, even though Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 supports LPDDR5 RAM.

iQOO Z8x

The battery was one of the highlights of the Z7x, and the same is the case with the Z8x. It has a 6,000mAh battery with 44W fast charging support. So, while the battery size is the same, the charging speed has reduced from 80W to 44W.

The dual camera setup includes a primary 50MP sensor and a secondary 2MP depth sensor. The selfie camera has an 8MP sensor. The primary rear camera can shoot up to 4K videos, something the iQOO Z7x couldn’t do with the same camera setup (due to the Snapdragon 695 chipset’s limitation).

The display is the same as Z7x – a 6.64-inch 120Hz LCD. Finally, Android 13 runs out of the box with OriginOS 3.0 on top.

iQOO Z8x comes in three colors, and here’s the pricing for China –

  • 8GB + 128GB – ¥1299 (~$179)
  • 8GB + 256GB – ¥1399 (~$193)
  • 12GB + 256GB – ¥1499 (~$206)

So, the price is the same as iQOO Z7x, but the base variant has 8GB RAM instead of 6GB, and the top variant has 12GB RAM instead of 8GB.

iQOO Z8

iQOO Z8

iQOO Z8 has the same design and color options as the Z8x but with subtle changes. For example, the camera module says “OIS,” which the Z8x lacks. The 3.5mm headphone jack is on the top instead of the bottom. The iQOO Z8 also has a stereo speaker setup, compared to the Z8x’s mono speaker.

Z8 has a better cooling system with a vapor chamber and 25026mm square heat dissipation area.

iQOO Z8

iQOO Z7 was launched with a Snapdragon 782G chip, whereas the Z8 has the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset. This brings a significant upgrade in the performance since Dimensity 8200 is a better-performing chip than even the Snapdragon 888 and 888+. The phone has LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. On the AnTuTu benchmark, the phone scores over 980,000 points.

The battery is 5,000mAh, and the charging speed is 120W, the same as iQOO Z7. The cameras are the same, too – a 64MP primary rear camera with OIS, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 16MP selfie camera.

iQOO Z8

Finally, the iQOO Z8 has the same 6.64-inch 120Hz LCD panel as the iQOO Z8x.

The color options are the same as iQOO Z8x, and here is the pricing –

  • 8GB + 256GB – ¥1699 (~$234)
  • 12GB + 256GB – ¥1799 (~$248)
  • 12GB + 512GB – ¥1999 (~$275)
