Exactly one year back, the iQOO Z6 5G was launched in the Indian market with Snapdragon 695 5G chipset for ₹15,499. The company has launched the successor in India, the iQOO Z7 5G. IQOO went with a MediaTek chipset this time, so the Dimensity 920 SOC powers the phone. This is quite a powerful chip at this price segment & is comparable to the Dimensity 1080, which powers phones such as the Realme 10 Pro+ & Redmi Note 12 Pro/Pro+.
The Z7 is not the only phone in this price segment to feature the Dimensity 920. The Realme Narzo 50 Pro, launched almost a year ago, is also available in this price segment.
The iQOO Z7 5G’s design looks identical to the recently launched iQOO devices with that familiar camera module. The sides are flat & this time, the fingerprint sensor is placed under the display, not on the side. This is quite rare in this price segment. The phone is quite slim at 7.8mm & also lightweight at 173g because of the polycarbonate build. A 3.5mm headphone jack is on the bottom alongside the Type-C port. There is no stereo speaker setup, so the phone has a single bottom-firing unit.
On the front, the iQOO Z7 5G has an AMOLED display, but there is a notch for the selfie camera instead of a hole punch cutout. This is a 6.38-inch AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution, 1300 nits peak brightness & HDR10+ support. The refresh rate is 90Hz & iQOO claims this is the brightest display in its price segment. The display is protected with Schott Xensation glass.
The Dimensity 920 SOC is paired with 6GB or 8GB LPDDR4X RAM & 128GB UFS 2.2 storage. There is a 5,000mAh battery & 44W fast charging support. The phone runs on Android 13-based FuntouchOS & will get two Android OS updates.
Coming to the cameras, iQOO Z7 5G has a dual camera setup, a 64MP primary camera with OIS support & a 2MP macro sensor. The selfie camera has a 16MP sensor.
Well, at ₹18,999, this is a good phone, but iQOO has done some cost-cutting to bring the price down. For example, there is no ultrawide camera, the old notch design, and no stereo speakers.
The phone comes in two colors – Pacific Night & Norway Blue. The 6GB variant is priced at ₹18,999 & the 8GB variant is at ₹19,999. The sale starts on March 21 & you can buy the phone via Amazon or iQOO India’s website.
