A couple of months ago, the iQOO Neo 5 went official in the Chinese market featuring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 chipset and a 120Hz AMOLED, for a starting price of ¥2499 or around $385. Well, today, the brand launched iQOO Neo 5 Vitality Edition (name translated from Chinese), which is an affordable version of the Neo 5 as it has some downgrades such as an LCD panel instead of AMOLED (though it is 144Hz), an 8 Megapixel ultrawide camera instead of a 13MP, 44W fast charging instead of 66W, etc.
iQOO launched the phone in China at a starting price of 2,299 Yuan, which translates to around $358. So there isn’t a huge price gap between the iQOO Neo 5 and the Neo 5 Vitality Edition.
Design-wise, it is quite different than the Neo 5. The hole-punch cutout for the selfie shooter is now placed on the corner instead of in the middle, and the camera module on the rear is also different in terms of the lens arrangement. Since there is an LCD panel, the fingerprint scanner now sits on the right side instead of under the display. Interestingly, iQOO added a 3.5mm headphone jack on this phone, something that was removed from the Neo 5.
Speaking of the specs, the iQOO Neo 5 Vitality Edition features a 6.57-inch LCD with a 144Hz refresh rate and Full-HD+ resolution. This panel supports HDR10 as well. Under the hood, it is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 SOC, which is paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage.
There are three cameras on the rear that include a primary 48 Megapixel sensor paired with an 8 Megapixel ultrawide unit and a 2 Megapixel macro camera. For comparison, the iQOO Neo 5 has a 48MP primary, 13MP ultrawide, and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the Vitality Edition sports a 16 Megapixel unit for selfies.
Finally, OiginOS 1.0 for iQOO based on Android 11 runs out of the box, and there is a 4,500mAh battery with 44W fast charging support. Some other features include a Liquid Cooling system, Multi Turbo 5.0 for a better gaming experience, and Stereo speakers.
Coming to the pricing in China, iQOO Neo 5 Vitality Edition comes in three storage options and here is the pricing –
- 8GB + 128GB – 2,299 Yuan ($358)
- 8GB + 256GB – 2,499 Yuan ($389)
- 12GB + 256GB – 2,699 Yuan ($420)
Currently, the phone is up for pre-order in China.
