Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 launched in the Indian market today & it is the latest offering from the brand in the mid-range segment. It comes for Rs 15,990 hence is going to compete with phones like the Vivo Z1 Pro, Realme X, Oppo K3 etc. Some highlights of the phone include a unique dual-tone design on the back, pop-up selfie camera & a full-screen design.
The design is pretty unique, at least from the back. So, there is a dual-tone design like the Google Pixel. It is worth mentioning that the back is made of polycarbonate so it might look like glass, but it’s just glossy plastic. That’s not an issue since we are seeing more and more phones in this segment with a plastic build but a beautiful look.
There are triple rear cameras arranged vertically & the fingerprint scanner is on the rear as well.
There is a full-screen design with no notch, cutout or hole-punch, but there is a noticeable bottom bezel. Unlike phones like Realme X that feature AMOLED screens, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 has a 6.59-inch TFT LCD with a Full-HD+ resolution (2340 x 1080). The processor powering the phone is the Kirin 710F which is definitely not the best chipset at this price but not the worst for sure.
The phone comes with 4GB RAM & 128GB storage, so it’s good to see companies offering 128GB storage option alongside 4GB RAM. The storage is expandable as well, up to 512GB.
There is a triple camera setup on the rear that includes a primary 16MP f/1.8 camera, a secondary 8MP wide-angle camera & a third 2MP depth sensor. There is a 16MP f/2.0 front camera placed in the pop-up mechanism.
The battery underneath is a 4,000mAh unit & the phone features a USB Type-C port. There is no mention of fast charging on the official site, so we don’t think there is any fast charging support. Android 9 Pie runs out of the box with EMUI 9.0 on top.
Finally, coming to the pricing & availability, the Huawei Y9 Prime 2019 comes in two colors – Emerald Green & Sapphire Blue. The device comes with 4GB RAM & 128GB ROM & the price is Rs 15,990 for the Indian market. It is Amazon Exclusive in India & will be available in the first sale happening on August 7 at 12 noon.
