Huawei P40 Pro to feature telephoto lens with 10X Optical Zoom

Every year, Huawei launches multiple flagships, but the ones that everyone looks forward to are the Huawei “P” & “Mate” series phones. Next year in March, Huawei P40 series will be unveiled in Paris & now, Ming-Chi Kuo, a popular analyst, has said that the Huawei P40 Pro is coming with a periscope style camera just like the Huawei P30 Pro but with an impressive 10X Optical Zoom.

Kuo predicted that next year, more and more phones would have upgraded Optical Zoom lens. In fact, there are already rumours about the Samsung Galaxy S11 series coming with 5X Optical Zoom lens. With a 10X Optical Zoom camera, the Huawei P40 Pro would become the first smartphone to have a camera with this much optical magnification.

Now, it won’t be a normal telephoto lens but a periscope-style camera that includes a prism & two mirrors. Compared to the Huawei P30 Pro that has a 5X Optical Zoom lens with just a prism, this would be a massive upgrade. It is rumoured that this 10X Optical Zoom camera is going to take photos at 8 Megapixels & the aperture is going to be f/4.0.

Moreover, it is rumoured that there is a periscope-style lens on the regular Huawei P40 as well, but it has just 5X Optical Zoom. Ming-Chi Kuo also said that the starting price is going to be around 4,000 to 5,000 yuan which translates to around $570-$713. This is most likely the starting price of regular Huawei P40 instead of the P40 Pro.
