Huawei P30 Series with Super Optical Zoom launching on March 26

MWC will kick off on February 25, and among all the smartphone launches, we were expecting Huawei to launch its flagships as well. But, it looks like the company has planned a separate event for the launch of Huawei P30 family. The company would showcase some stuff at the MWC like a foldable smartphone with 5G, but the P30 series is coming later. Today, Huawei revealed that the P30 family is launching globally on March 26 at an event in Paris.

The teaser video was posted by Huawei on Twitter today which confirms the rumored ‘Super Optical Zoom’ feature. When the Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro were launched last year, one of the camera highlights was the ability to take 2.5cm Super Macro photos. With the Huawei P30, however, we are now getting Super Optical Zoom which is most probably the rumored 10X Hybrid Zoom.

At the MWC, Oppo is expected to showcase the 10X HYbrid Zoom technology for smartphone cameras. The company is expected to put it in mass production in the first half of 2019.

Now, we are not sure if Huawei is going to use Oppo’s technology or the company has developed its own. But, whatever the case is, Huawei is going to change the way we see and use smartphone cameras.

There is no information about the specs yet, but rumors suggest Quad cameras on the rear (at least for the P30 Pro), in-display fingerprint scanner, Kirin 980, etc.
