In June, the Huawei Nova 5 Pro with Quad cameras launched in China & today, the company launched Nova 5i Pro, again with Quad cameras. As the name suggests, it is an upgrade to the Nova 5i that launched this year with Kirin 710F, Quad Cameras & a hole-punch screen. The Huawei Nova 5i Pro retains much of the design, so it too has a hole-punch screen, a Quad Camera setup & a rear-facing fingerprint scanner.
The rear now looks much like the Huawei Mate 20 Pro as the Nova 5i Pro has a rectangular camera module that houses the four lenses. There is a fingerprint scanner below the camera module. The phone has premium build as there is a glass back with a textured finish.
On the front, there is a 6.26-inch LTPS panel with a Full-HD+ resolution (2340 x 1080). It is a hole-punch screen, so the front camera is placed on the circular cutout on the top left of the screen. It is powered by the 7nm Kirin 810 SOC which is the latest mid-range chip from Huawei having 2x Cortex-A76 cores & 6x Cortex-A55 cores. The phone comes with 6/8GB RAM & 128/256GB storage.
Coming to the cameras, the Huawei Nova 5i Pro has a Quad camera setup that includes a primary 48MP camera with f/1.8 aperture, an 8MP secondary wide-angle camera, a third 2MP macro camera & a fourth 2MP depth sensor. The front camera is a 32MP sensor with f/2.0 aperture lens. Usual cameras features like Portrait Mode, Night Mode, HDR, AR Stickers, Pro Mode etc. are all there.
There is a 4,000mAh battery that supports 10V/2A fast charging. As per the company, the charging time is 1.5 Hours. Finally, Android 9 Pie runs out of the box with EMUI 9.1 on top.
The color options include Magic Night Black, Aurora & Green. Here is the pricing for the Chinese market –
- 6GB + 128GB – 2,199 Yuan ($320)
- 8GB + 128GB – 2,499 Yuan ($363)
- 8GB + 256GB – 2,799 Yuan ($407)
