There is no denying the fact that right now, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro is the best smartphone that you can buy under Rs 20,000 in India. It is the only phone under this price to feature the powerful Snapdragon 636 processor. Also, there are dual cameras on the rear that are simply incredible if compared with other phones in this price range. Well, the irony is that the Redmi Note 5 Pro has a processor that supports 4K video recording at 30fps but for some reasons, the Note 5 Pro doesn’t support 4K video recording.
Chances are that an update will bring this functionality to the phone in the future but if you are the one who doesn’t like to wait, here is how you can enable 4K UHD video recording on the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. But, keep in mind that you need to have a rooted Note 5 Pro as there is no method to enable 4K recording without root as of now. If you have a rooted Redmi Note 5 Pro, then you are good to go.
HOW TO ENABLE 4K UHD VIDEO RECORDING ON XIAOMI REDMI NOTE 5 PRO
NOTE – This method was tested on the Note 5 Pro running MIUI 8.4.3 Global Beta (Oreo). If your phone runs any other version of MIUI and this method works, then make sure to let us know in the comments below.
You need to have a Root Explorer installed on your phone. If you don’t have any, then simply download the ES File Explorer or Solid Explorer or MiXplorer. There are a lot of other root explorers so you can try any of those.
(Thanks to Vidhanth for sharing the method on XDA)
Once you have a root explorer installed, simply follow the following steps –
- Open /system/etc/device_features/whyred.xml
- the line that says “support_camera_4k_quality”
- Change the “false” to “true”, then save the file.
- Reboot
That’s it! Now, if you go into the camera app and go into the settings, you can select the Video Quality up to 4K UHD. Wasn’t it pretty simple?
Well, if you don’t want to root your phone, then you will have to wait for the official OTA update that brings 4K video recording to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. Are you facing any issues with the steps? Let us know in the comments below, and we will try to help asap.
