Samsung Galaxy S20 FE is official & with this phone, there are now four phones under the Galaxy S20 Series (if we don’t count 4G & 5G versions separately), i.e., the S20, S20+, S20 Ultra & the S20 FE. The Galaxy S20 FE comes in two variants – 4G & 5G.
In the US, only the 5G version of the phone will be available for a starting price of $699. For comparison, the Galaxy S20 5G is currently priced at $999 in the US. It is worth mentioning that the $699 variant supports sub-6 band 5G, but there is also a $749 variant with mmWave 5G support that is also Verizon Exclusive.
For the United Kingdom, the phone will be available in both LTE & 5G variants, so the LTE version is priced at £599 whereas the 5G version at £699. Finally, in Germany, the 4G version is priced at €633 whereas the 5G version at €729.
SAMSUNG GALAXY S20 FE – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS
To keep the price low, there are some downgrades in terms of the design. First, there is no longer a premium glass back that we have on the Galaxy S20. Instead, the Samsung Galaxy S20 FE has a plastic back. The phone does have IP68 certification as well as Wireless Charging support, so that’s great. There is no 3.5mm headphone jack.
On the front, there is an Infinity-O display featuring a tiny single hole-punch cutout in the middle. The display is flat & not curved on the sides. It is a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED panel featuring 120Hz refresh rate & a Full-HD+ resolution.
The SOC depends on the variant of the S20 FE. The Samsung Galaxy S20 FE 5G has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 whereas the 4G version has Exynos 990 (with LTE Modem).
As the images above show, there are six different colors to choose from & they’re named Cloud Navy, Cloud White, Cloud Orange, Cloud Red, Cloud Mint & Cloud Lavender.
Anyways, coming to the cameras now, the Galaxy S20 FE has three cameras on the back that include a primary 12 Megapixel shooter with 1.8-micron pixel size & OIS, a secondary 12 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens featuring 123-degree FOV, and finally an 8 Megapixel telephoto lens featuring 3X Optical Zoom, 30X Digital Zoom & OIS.
On the front, there is a 32 Megapixel shooter for selfies.
Finally, the Galaxy S20 FE features a 4,500mAh battery, 25W Fast Wired Charging & Wireless + Reverse Wireless Charging. There are stereo speakers tuned by AKG & the fingerprint scanner is placed under the display.
The sales start on October 2nd.
