Realme X7 & X7 Pro launched in China with Dimensity SOCs

Realme unveiled its X7 series of smartphones today in China & the series includes the Realme X7 & the X7 Pro, both of which are 5G smartphones powered by the MediaTek’s 5G SOCs under the Dimensity lineup.

There are some notable differences between the two, for example, the X7 has Dimensity 800U SOC whereas the X7 Pro comes with Dimensity 1000+. Along with these two phones, the company also launched Realme V3 5G, which is the cheapest 5G phone in China.

Design-wise, the two phones are similar as both have a vertically placed Quad camera setup on the back & a single hole-punch design on the front. Both come with Both lack a 3.5mm headphone jack & while Realme didn’t mention it on the website, the back is most likely made of glass.

Both these phones are pretty slim & lightweight as well. The X7 weighs just 175 grams & its thickness is 8.1mm. The X7 Pro is slightly heavier at 184 grams & the thickness is 8.5mm.

Talking about the specs now, the display is one of the things that are different on the two devices. While the Realme X7 has a 6.4-inch AMOLED panel with FHD+ resolution & 180Hz touch-sampling-rate (60Hz refresh rate), the X7 Pro has a 6.55-inch Samsung’s Flexible AMOLED panel with 1,200nits peak brightness, 120Hz refresh rate & up to 240Hz touch-sampling-rate.

Both phones have Gorilla Glass protection, but Realme specifically mentions Gorilla Glass 5 in case of X7 Pro.

Camera-wise, there are differences as well. The Realme X7 has a Quad camera setup that includes a primary 64 Megapixel Samsung Sensor whereas the X7 Pro has a 64 Megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor. Both phones have an 8 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with 119-degree FOV & a 2 Megapixel Macro camera. There is a fourth 2 Megapixel camera on both phones which seems to be a B&W sensor.

There is a 32 Megapixel selfie camera on both phones. While the video recording is restricted to up to 4K 30fps in case of the X7, the X7 Pro can shoot 4K 60fps videos. But this something that depends not that much on the camera sensor as much as it does on the SOC.

Realme X7 has the MediaTek Dimensity 800U chipset which comes with the Mali-G67 GPU & the high-performance cores of it are clocked at up to 2.4GHz. On the other hand, the X7 Pro has the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SOC which is the current flagship SOC from MediaTek & it comes with the 9-core Mali-G77 SOC. The High-Performance cores of it are clocked at up to 2.6GHz.

While the X7 comes with 6/8GB LPDDR4X RAM paired with 128GB UFS 2.1 storage, the Realme X7 Pro has 8GB RAM & 128/256GB UFS 2.1 storage. None of the two has a microSD card slot.
