Poco X2 launched in India today & it is the second phone from the brand after the extremely popular Poco F1 that launched back in 2018. So, after a gap of more than a year, Poco has launched its new phone. Unlike the Poco F1 that launched as a budget flagship, the X2 is a mid-range device & the price starts at just Rs 15,999, making it the cheapest phone in India with Snapdragon 730G SOC.
POCO X2 – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS
To clear all the confusion, the Poco X2 is indeed the rebranded Redmi K30 4G, so there is no difference in the design. There is a 3D Gorilla Glass 5 back & the phone has a side-facing fingerprint scanner. This is because there is an LCD punch-hole display on the front with dual selfie cameras placed on the top left in a pill-shaped cutout.
The USB Type-C port & the headphone jack are placed on the bottom & there is an IR blaster on top.
The display on the front is a 6.67-inch LCD & not AMOLED, but the good thing is that there is a 120Hz refresh rate, which is also the main USP of the X2. You can choose between 60Hz or 120Hz as per your liking. Keep in mind that the latter will consume the battery faster. It is an FHD+ panel with a 20:9 aspect ratio.
There is the Snapdragon 730G SOC powering the phone & yes, this is the same chipset that powers the Realme X2. Unlike the Realme X2 that starts with 4GB RAM, the Poco X2 comes with 6GB + 64GB as the base & goes up to 8GB + 256GB. The storage is UFS 2.1.
The Poco X2 also has a huge battery underneath. There is a 4,500mAh battery & the phone supports 27W Fast Charging. The good thing is that the fast charger is there in the box, so you don’t have to spend extra cash to get a faster charging.
At the launch event, the company showed the comparison of charging speeds of the Realme X2 & Poco X2. Poco claimed that the X2 with its 4,500mAh battery & 27W Charging could charge faster than the Realme X2 with its 4,000mAh battery & 30W charging, which is interesting. We can give credit for this to the Liquid Cooling technology that helps to maintain the thermals while charging at high power.
Coming to the cameras, the Poco X2 features a Quad camera setup on the rear that includes a primary 64 Megapixel Sony IMX686 sensor (first time in India), an 8 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera with 120-degree FOV, a 2MP Depth sensor & a 2MP Macro lens (up to 2cm). On the front, there are dual cameras that include a primary 20MP unit & a secondary 2MP depth sensor.
Some camera features include 960fps slow-motion recording, VLOG Mode with 7 new styles, RAW Image capture, etc.
