The OnePlus 12 was an excellent phone from the brand, and it is still one of the best value-for-money flagships you can get right now. The phone was launched in China in December last year, and the global launch happened in January. Today, we got the OnePlus 13, the newest premium flagship from the brand. The phone has launched in China only for now, and we should see a global launch in the coming months.
Design-wise, there are some noticeable changes this year. First, the camera module no longer extends from the frame of the phone, and it is now a separate unit on the rear. There is also a horizontal strip on the back that gives it a unique look. The Hasselblad logo is now placed outside the camera module. There is a flat-frame design, meaning the display is flat, not curved. This is a huge design change since we have seen curved displays on OnePlus flagships since the OnePlus 7 Pro of 2019.
The phone is IP68 and IP69-certified, has an IR blaster, stereo speakers, an upgraded Bionic vibration motor, four microphones, an alert slider on the left side, and a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port on the bottom.
On the front, the OnePlus 13 has a 6.82-inch Quad-HD+ 8T LTPO OLED display from BOE with a 4500 nits peak brightness, 10-bit color depth, HDR10+, and Dolby Vision. The phone uses an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner from Goodix. Under the hood, there is the Snapdragon 8 Elite SOC, and the phone has up to 24GB RAM with 1TB storage. The phone has an upgraded cooling system with up to 13.4% larger heat dissipation area.
The battery is one of the USPs of this device. The OnePlus 12 already had a huge 5,400mAh battery, and this time, OnePlus went ahead and added a 6,000mAh battery in the OnePlus 13. There is support for 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging.
In terms of cameras, we are looking at a triple-camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 1/1.4″ 50MP Sony LYT-808 sensor with OIS support and a large f/1.6 aperture lens. The ultrawide camera has a 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor and can shoot macro photos. The third camera is a periscope telephoto camera with a 1/1.95″ 50MP Sony LYT-600 sensor, 3x optical zoom, OIS, and an f/2.6 aperture lens. On the front, the phone has a 32MP sensor. The phone can shoot 8K 30fps videos from the rear camera and 4K 60fps videos from the selfie camera.
Finally, the phone runs on ColorOS 15 out of the box in China.
OnePlus 13 comes in three colors, and here is the pricing for China –
- 12GB + 256GB – ¥4499 (~$630)
- 12GB + 512GB – ¥4899 (~$690)
- 16GB + 512GB – ¥5299 (~$745)
- 24GB + 1TB – ¥5999 (~$840)
So, we are looking at a price hike of ¥200 or around $30 this year, versus the OnePlus 12.
