Motorola Edge 40 Pro with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 is official

In December last year, the Moto X40 Pro was launched in the Chinese market, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. Today, Motorola launched the phone in the global market as the Motorola Edge 40 Pro, the successor to the Motorola Edge 30 Pro. This is a full-fledged premium flagship from the brand priced at €899. For comparison, the Edge 30 Pro launched at €799 last year.

There is no change in the design or the specifications compared to the Chinese variant. There is Gorilla Glass Victus on the front & back. The rear glass has a matte finish. The frame is made of aluminum. The phone is IP68 certified, so it can be submerged in shallow water for up to 30 minutes. There are stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos support, an under-display fingerprint sensor, and a USB 3.2 compatible Type-C port.

There is a curved display with a hole punch cutout in the center. It is a 6.67-inch 10-bit pOLED panel with a Full-HD+ resolution, HDR10+ support, Dolby Vision, 165Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1100 nits. Under the hood, Motorola Edge 40 Pro has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SOC, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

The battery size is 4,600mAh & along with 125W TurboCharging, the phone also supports 15W wireless charging & 5W reverse wireless charging.

The triple camera setup includes a primary 50MP 1/1.56″ sensor with OIS, a 50MP ultrawide camera with 114° FOV, and a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor for the 2X telephoto lens. For selfies, there is a 60MP sensor. The primary rear camera can shoot up to 8K 30fps videos, the ultrawide camera can shoot up to 4K 60fps videos, and the telephoto camera can shoot up to 4K 30fps videos. The selfie camera can shoot up to 4K 60fps videos.

Finally, Android 13 runs out of the box.
