In January, the Moto G73 5G and three other phones were initially announced in the European market. Today, the phone was launched in the Indian market, and as the name suggests, this is a budget 5G phone from the company and the successor to the Moto G72. The Moto G72 was a non-5G phone launched with Helio G99 SOC for ₹18,999. The G73 5G is priced the same, which is interesting. But as you might have guessed, this means cost-cutting has been done in some areas.

The biggest cost-cutting is done in the display department. The Moto G73 5G has a 6.5-inch 120Hz LCD, compared to a 120Hz pOLED display on the G72. Motorola has also said that the phone will receive only one Android version update, which means only an Android 14 update. This is not good for a phone that is priced at almost 20K. On top of that, we know how slow Motorola is in terms of updates.

And well, those are pretty much all the cons of this phone. The Moto G73 5G has the MediaTek Dimensity 930 SOC, and while the name suggests that this is an upgrade of Dimensity 920, it isn’t. The Dimensity 930 has a weaker CPU than the Dimensity 920 (2.2GHz vs. 2.5GHz). In simple words, Dimensity 930 sits between the Snapdragon 695 & Dimensity 920 in performance.

The Moto G73 has a dual camera setup on the rear, including a primary 50MP sensor (1.0µm pixel size) with ultra-pixel technology, resulting in 1.5x larger pixels (2.0µm). The second camera is for ultrawide photos and has an 8MP sensor. This ultrawide camera is also used for macro shots. There is no 4K video recording support, so the rear camera is limited to up to 1080p 60fps video recording. The selfie camera can shoot up to 1080p 30fps videos.

There is a 5,000mAh battery with 30W fast charging. Other features include stereo speakers with Dolby Atmos, a 3.5mm headphone jack, 13 5G bands, an IP52 rating, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, etc.

Moto G73 comes in a single configuration in the Indian market – 8GB + 128GB. The price is ₹18,999, but if you include the offers, you can get the phone for as low as ₹16,999. The first sale is on the 16th of March on Flipkart.
