Exynos 880 specifications shared by a source on Weibo

Samsung is preparing for the launch of a new Exynos SOC under the 800-series named Exynos 880. It is very much possible that Vivo would be the first to launch a phone powered by this SOC since an unannounced Vivo phone with the model number “V2002A” appeared on Geekbench with this chipset.

Today, Digital Chat Station, a very reliable source on Weibo, shared the specifications of this unannounced SOC from Samsung.

It is a 5G SOC from Samsung so, similar to the Exynos 900 series, we are pretty sure that the Exynos 880 comes with an integrated 5G modem instead of requiring a separate 5G modem like in case of Snapdragon 865. Anyways, talking about the specs, there is an octa-core CPU that includes two Cortex-A77 performance cores clocked at 2.0GHz & six Cortex-A55 Efficiency cores clocked at 1.79GHz. There is Mali-G76 GPU.

On Geekbench, the upcoming Vivo phone with this SOC scored 641 on single-core & 1814 on multi-core. This score is similar to what the Snapdragon 765G SOC scores, so this means Samsung wants to compete with Qualcomm & MediaTek in the mid-range segment with this new 5G SOC.

There is no word on the launch of this Vivo smartphone so we’ll have to wait for the official announcement. Also, there are chances that Samsung unveils the Exynos 880 SOC before the launch of this Vivo phone.
