At the event in China today, Huawei launched the all-new Kirin 810 processor that debuted with the Huawei Nova 5. 810, as the name indicates, is a successor to the last year’s Kirin 710 which was a 12nm mid-range chip & we saw that particular processor in a lot of Huawei & Honor devices.
The Kirin 810 is on a whole new level as it is a 7nm processor like the flagship Snapdragon 855 & Kirin 980. Moreover, it packs the powerful Cortex-A76 cores & a powerful GPU that, as per the company, is 162% better in terms of the performance than the one found in the Kirin 710.
When it comes to AI Performance, even the Snapdragon 855 doesn’t stand a chance in front of it. This is all thanks to the DaVinci NPU that is based on the Rubik’s Cube Quantitative Stereo Arithmetic Unit. The Kirin 810-powered Huawei Nova 5 tops the AI Benchmark that shows how great this processor is in terms of the AI performance.
Talking about the CPU, it is an octa-core CPU with two high-performance Cortex-A76 cores clocked at 2.27GHz & six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.88GHz. There is a Mali-G52 MP6 GPU. According to Huawei, the Kirin 810 beats the Snapdragon 730 with ease as the chip promises up to 11% better single-core & 13% better multi-core performance. Talking about GPU performance, the Mali-G52 MP6 GPU beats the Adreno 618 as it offers 44% higher frame rates.
The chip features IVP + ISP & an upgraded Pixel processing unit which would be helpful in the overall image processing.
Well, the Huawei Nova 5 is the only phone that has this chip right now, but we would eventually see a lot of Huawei & Honor phones getting this processor this year. Let’s see if Qualcomm has an answer to the Huawei’s Kirin 810.
