Nubia launched the Red Magic 6 series in China today, and it includes two gaming phones named the Red Magic 6 & Red Magic 6 Pro. Every year, Nubia does something crazy with its Red Magic devices, and this year as well, they have done something mind-blowing. The Red Magic 6 series is the first to feature a 165Hz display. There is also up to 500Hz single touch-sampling-rate. Like last year, the phones feature an internal cooling fan as well to keep the device cool while gaming. The main difference between the vanilla version and the Pro version is that the Pro version supports 120W Fast charging and up to 16GB RAM.

As always, both the phones have an aggressive design with patterns and lines all around. On the right side, there are shoulder buttons that feature a 400Hz touch-sampling rate. On either side, there is a vent, so one is used by the fan for intaking cool air and the other to throw out the warm air. There are three cameras on the back placed vertically, and the back has Red Magic branding in both logo and text form, Tencent Games logo, and also the “Powered by Nubia” text.

Both phones offer a 3.5mm headphone jack and have stereo speakers. The fingerprint scanner is positioned under the display.

Speaking of the display, both Red Magic 6 and Red Magic 6 Pro have a 6.8-inch AMOLED panel featuring a 165Hz refresh rate, and 360Hz multi-finger touch-sampling-rate, and a 500Hz one-finger touch sampling rate. The display features Full-HD+ resolution and is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 6.

Now, while both phones offer a cooling fan, there is a difference in the maximum speed at which it can spin. Red Magic 6 has a high-speed centrifugal fan that can spin at a rate of 18000rpm, whereas the Red Magic 6 Pro has a fan that can spin at up to 20,000rpm. Some other stuff related to cooling includes Thermal gel, Superconducting copper foil, Graphene, etc.

Under the hood, both the phones offer Snapdragon 888 SOC paired with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. Now, while the Red Magic 6 offers up to 16GB RAM and 256GB storage, the Red Magic 6 Pro takes it a step further by offering up to 16GB LPDDR5 RAM. In terms of the battery size and charging speed as well, both phones are different. While the Red Magic 6 comes with a 5,050mAh battery with 66W fast charging support, the Pro offers 120W fast charging support but cuts the battery size to 4,500mAh.

Speaking of the cameras, the triple camera setup on the rear includes a primary 64 Megapixel shooter paired with an 8 Megapixel ultrawide and a 2 Megapixel macro camera. There is an 8 Megapixel selfie camera.

Finally, RedMagic OS 4.0, based on Android 11, runs out of the box, and there is also a Transparent Edition of the Red Magic 6 Pro that offers up to 18GB RAM and 512GB storage.
