The OnePlus Ace 3 was launched in China in January with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and a big 5,500mAh battery. The phone was launched globally as the OnePlus 12R. Later in June, the brand launched the OnePlus Ace 3 Pro in China with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SOC, but that phone never made it outside China. Now, the company has launched the OnePlus Ace 5 & Ace 5 Pro in the Chinese market as its newest high-end smartphones.
ONEPLUS ACE 5
Starting with the vanilla model, the OnePlus Ace 5 looks identical to the OnePlus 13. There is a circular camera module on the rear and just like the OnePlus 13, the camera module is not attached to the frame anymore. The camera module has the triple camera setup and the LED flash, but there is no Hasselblad branding on the rear. The phone has a flat-frame design and a flat display. For comparison, the OnePlus Ace 3 featured a curved display.
The frame is metallic, and there is Oppo’s crystal shield glass on the front and back. There is also a special green color option with a ceramic finish on the back. This ceramic material has a Mohs Hardness of 8.5 as per the company.
The alert slider is placed on the left side, and the phone is IP65-certified. There are stereo speakers, and the phone also features an IR blaster.
Speaking of the specifications, the OnePlus Ace 5 has a 6.78-inch 1.5K BOE X2 8T LTPO OLED panel with a 2160Hz PWM dimming and a 10-bit color depth. The peak brightness is 4500 nits. Under the hood, the phone has the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.
One of the biggest upgrades this time is the battery. While the OnePlus Ace 3 already had a huge 5,500mAh battery, the OnePlus Ace 5 gets a massive 6,400mAh battery. The phone supports 80W wired charging. Thanks to the silicon anode battery tech, the thickness of the phone is just 8.02mm.
As for the cameras, the primary rear camera has a 1/1.56″ 50MP Sony IMX906 sensor with OIS, the ultrawide camera has an 8MP sensor, and the macro camera has a 2MP sensor. The selfie camera has a 16MP sensor. There is 4K 60fps video recording support for the rear camera but no 4K recording for the selfie camera.
Finally, the OnePlus Ace 5 runs on Android 15-based ColorOS 15 in China. Other features include WiFi 7, Bluetooth 5.4, and an optical under-display fingerprint scanner.
The OnePlus Ace 5 comes in three colors, including the special ceramic variant. Here is the pricing for China –

ONEPLUS ACE 5 PRO
Next up, we have the OnePlus Ace 5 Pro, which is the same as the OnePlus Ace 5 but with a few upgrades. Speaking of the similarities, the phone has the same design, the same display, and the same cameras.
The first upgrade is in performance, as the phone uses the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset. The second update is the charging speed, which is 100W. But, while the charging speed is upgraded, the battery is smaller than the OnePlus Ace 5 at 6,100mAh. The phone also supports Bypass Charging which is helpful when you are playing games while the phone is charging. This feature will ensure the power is delivered directly to the components instead of the battery to avoid overheating issues.
There is no upgrade in the IP rating, so the Ace 5 Pro is also IP65-certified.
The 16GB + 1TB variant of the phone has LPDDR5T RAM which is an upgraded version of the LPDDR5X RAM.
And well, those are the only upgrades.
