In October, a couple of unofficial renders of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra were leaked online, which revealed the camera module design. The phone has the same circular camera module as the Xiaomi 14 Ultra, but the arrangement of the four lenses is different this time. At that time, we also got to know that Xiaomi is most likely going to use the Samsung HP9 sensor for the periscope telephoto camera on this phone. Well, the camera specifications of the Xiaomi 15 Ultra have been shared by a source on X, and they confirm what all the rumors and reports have revealed so far.
As per the source, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra features a 1-inch 50MP Sony LYT-900 sensor for the primary camera, the same as its predecessor. The ultrawide camera has a 1/2.76″ 50MP Samsung JN5 sensor, versus a 1/2.51″ 50MP Sony IMX858 on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. The 3x telephoto camera uses a 1/2.51″ 50MP Sony IMX858 sensor, the same as its predecessor.
Finally, the star of the show is a periscope telephoto camera with a large 1/1.4″ 200MP Samsung HP9 sensor with a 4.3x optical zoom. This is a massive upgrade because the Xiaomi 14 Ultra had a 1/2.51″ 50MP Sony IMX858 sensor for the telephoto camera. The optical zoom has reduced this time, but we are sure the large sensor and a high megapixel count will make up for it.
It is reported that the Xiaomi 15 Ultra does not have a variable aperture lens for the primary camera, which was present on the Xiaomi 14 Ultra. If true, this is not good news, as a variable aperture lens has its advantages.
Well, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra is set to launch this month in China, so let’s see what camera improvements we see this time.
