The Vivo Y200 was launched in October last year with a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset and a 64MP camera with OIS. Today, the brand launched its successor, the Vivo Y300, in the Chinese market. Like its predecessor, the Y300 is a budget 5G phone and brings some interesting hardware updates.

Vivo Y300

Design-wise, the Vivo Y300 has a different camera module design than the Y200. There is now a circular camera module in the middle with a dual camera setup and the ring LED flash. If you look closely, there is a speaker unit in the middle of the camera module. This is quite a unique setup, as there is also a second speaker on the top and the primary speaker on the bottom. This results in a three-way speaker setup for a more immersive audio experience. Compared to conventional speaker setups on smartphones, this setup on the Vivo Y300 offers up to 600% louder output.

The Vivo Y300 comes with IP64 certification versus the IP54 rating of the Vivo Y200. On the front, the phone has the “Diamond Shiled” glass. The phone has SGS Five-star Drop Resistance certification.

Vivo Y300

Speaking of the specifications, the Vivo Y300 has a 6.77-inch flat OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and a Full-HD+ resolution. The panel supports 3840Hz PWM dimming. There is an under-display optical fingerprint scanner. The chipset is the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, built on TSMC’s 6nm process. There is up to 12GB LPDDR4X RAM with 512GB UFS 2.2 storage.

The battery is one of the highlights of this device. The Vivo Y300 packs a massive 6,500mAh battery, much larger than the 4,800mAh battery inside the Vivo Y200. The wired charging speed remains the same at 44W. As for the cameras, the dual camera setup on the rear includes a 50MP primary shooter and a 2MP secondary sensor. The selfie camera has an 8MP sensor.

Finally, the phone runs on OriginOS 5 out of the box.
