Vivo launched two new 5G phones today under the “X” series named Vivo X30 & X30 Pro in China. One interesting thing apart from the fact that these are 5G phones is that Samsung’s Exynos 980 5G SOC powers both. So, these are the first phones to launch with this chipset since even Samsung hasn’t launched a phone with Exynos 980 yet.
VIVO X30 – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS
It looks like punch-hole is the new trend among smartphone makers as almost every brand is now moving towards punch-hole designs from the Full-Screen design. But, most of the phones that launched in the past couple of months with a punch-hole design are 5G mid-rangers & as we know, a 5G device needs some extra components & hence, it is not a good idea to go for a pop-up selfie camera in a 5G phone as that would make the device thicker.
The Vivo X30 ditches the pop-up selfie camera that we saw in previous “X” series phones like the Vivo X27 & instead has a punch-hole on the front for the single selfie camera. As we can see in the renders, the punch-hole is pretty small at 2.98mm.
The Vivo X30 has triple rear cameras stacked vertically on the top left & there is an in-display fingerprint scanner since the phone has an AMOLED panel. There is a 3.5mm headphone jack alongside the USB Type-C port.
Coming to the specifications, the Vivo X30 has a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED Full-HD+ “XDR” display (2400 × 1080) with 800 nits brightness (local brightness fo 1,200 nits) & is powered by an 8nm octa-core Exynos 980 SOC which has an integrated 5G modem for 5G connectivity. There is a Mali-G76 GPU. The X30 comes with 8GB RAM & 128/256GB internal storage.
There is a 4,350mAh battery & the device supports 33W Flash Charge via the USB Type-C port. Funtouch OS 10 based on Android 10 runs out of the box.
Coming to the cameras, there is a triple camera setup on the rear that includes a primary 64 Megapixel shooter with f/1.8 aperture, a secondary 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens & a third 50mm 32MP Portrait Lens with 2X Optical Zoom. On the front, there is a 32MP selfie camera. Some camera features include Super Night Scene, Portrait Mode, Pro Mode, Slow Motion, HDR, etc.
VIVO X30 PRO – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS
The Vivo X30 Pro, as the name indicates, is an upgraded version of the X30. The design remains the same with just one exception & that’s the presence of a periscope-style zoom lens on the rear alongside the triple camera setup, It too has a punch-hole for the single selfie camera on the front.
Vivo didn’t ditch any ports on the “Pro” version as the X30 Pro has USB Type-C port as well as the 3.5mm headphone jack.
There is the same 6.44-inch Super AMOLED Full-HD+ “XDR” display on the front with 800 nits brightness (1,200 nits local brightness) & Exynos 980 5G SOC. There is 8GB RAM & 128/256GB internal storage. The battery is also the same, i.e., a 4,350mAh unit with 33W Flash Charge support.
Coming to the camera setup, there is a Quad camera setup on the rear that includes a primary 64MP lens with f/1.8 aperture, an 8 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 50mm 32MP Portrait Lens & finally a 13MP Periscope-style lens with 5X Hybrid Zoom & up to 60X Digital Zoom. There is a 32MP selfie camera. So, the camera setup is also the same except for the fourth periscope lens on the rear.
