Vivo iQOO gaming phone launched with Snapdragon 855 & 44W Charging

The Vivo iQOO launched in China today, and as expected, it is a gaming smartphone from the company featuring top of the line specifications. But, the specifications aren’t the only good thing about this device as it also has a beautiful design. There is a glass back, and a metal frame but the phone has a unique design on the sides that give it an interesting look.

There are two color options – Blue and Orange with the respective color variants having a unique back panel design that shows a pattern when light falls on it. Moreover, there is an LED strip on the back that is used in various cases like reminders, charging, gaming, etc. The Vivo iQOO phone also has pressure sensitive sides which means you can use it for different controls in the game.

Apart from the Blue and Orange color options, there is also a third variant with a Carbon Fiber finish under the rear glass panel. It is a more complex matte glass that ensures lesser fingerprints. Apart from the USB Type-C on the bottom, it also has 3.5mm headphone jack on the top. This is something that is needed on gaming phones since most of us play games with the earphones plugged in.

Coming to the specifications, the Vivo iQOO phone has a 6.41-inch AMOLED Full-HD+ display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio and a resolution of 2340×1080. There is a waterdrop notch on the front and also a noticeable bottom chin. Under the display lies the fingerprint scanner & it is an optical fingerprint scanner like the one on Mi 9 or OnePlus 6T.

The 2.84GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor powers the device along with the Adreno 630 GPU. For better cooling, there is ‘Super Liquid Cooling’ system as the phone has a vapor chamber inside. When the CPU requirements are high, this cooling system can decrease the temperature by more than 3 degrees, resulting in the increase in frame rate. Talking about the storage, the phone comes with 6/8/12GB RAM and 128/256GB storage.

On the rear, there are triple cameras that include a primary 12MP camera with F/1.79 aperture (Sony IMX363), a secondary 13MP wide-angle camera with f/2.4 aperture & a third 2MP depth sensor. There is a single 12MP camera with f/2.0 aperture on the front.

The Vivo iQOO has a 4,000mAh battery that supports 44W Fast Charging as well. It means that the battery can be fully charged in around 45 minutes. The cheapest variant of the phone, i.e., 6GB + 128GB, comes with 22.5W charging so that’s something you should keep in mind.

FunTouch OS 9 based on Android 9 Pie runs out of the box, and there are other features like AI Turbo, Cooling Turbo, Center Turbo, etc. for better performance.

Finally, talking about the pricing, here are the prices of the different variants –

  • 6GB + 128GB – 2,998 Yuan ($447)
  • 8GB + 128GB – 3,298 Yuan ($492)
  • 8GB + 256GB – 3,598 Yuan ($536)
