In May last year, the Sony Xperia 10 VI was launched with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 chipset, a 60Hz OLED panel, a dual camera setup, a 5,000mAh battery, and 30W fast wired charging. The Xperia 10 VI was launched at a starting price of €399 / £349. The brand has now launched the Sony Xperia 10 VII. With this smartphone, Sony has switched the design language a bit.

Sony Xperia 10 VII

The Sony Xperia 10 VII comes with a camera bar on the rear, similar to Google Pixel smartphones. This camera bar has a dual camera setup, the Sony branding, and the LED flash. The last time we saw a horizontal camera arrangement on an Xperia 10 series smartphone was in 2019 when the first-generation Sony Xperia 10 was launched. The Xperia 10 VII is 8.3mm thick and weighs just 168g. There are front-facing stereo speakers, and the phone is IP68-certified.

The front design remains unchanged, so we still have that thick top and bottom bezel. There is a polycarbonate frame, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a camera shutter button on the side. The camera shutter button was missing on the Xperia 10 VI, so it is a good addition. The phone has a 3.5mm headphone jack on the top, so it is one of the few phones left with a headphone jack.

Speaking of specifications, the Sony Xperia 10 VII has a 6.1-inch Full-HD+ OLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate. This is a big upgrade over the 60Hz panel on the Xperia 10 VI.

The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 chipset and features 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM with 128GB of storage. There is a microSD card slot to expand the storage by adding an external microSD card of up to 2TB.

The battery remains unchanged, so it is still a 5,000mAh unit. There is USB PD fast charging.

Speaking of cameras, the Sony Xperia 10 VII has a dual camera setup on the rear. The primary rear camera has a 1/1.56″ 50MP Sony Exmor RS sensor with an f/1.9 aperture lens and OIS support. There is a secondary ultrawide camera with a 1/1.3″ 13MP sensor. The camera setup is definitely upgraded versus the Xperia 10 VI, which had a 1/2″ 48MP sensor for the primary camera and an 8MP ultrawide camera.

The selfie shooter has an 8MP sensor.

Finally, the Xperia 10 VII runs on Android 15 out of the box, and the phone will get four OS updates.
