Here’s our official first look at the Redmi Turbo 4

Launching with the MediaTek Dimensity 8400-ULTRA SOC!

Back in April, the Redmi Turbo 3 was officially launched in the Chinese market with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, and later, the phone was launched as the Poco F6 in the global market. It was an interesting smartphone because the main USP of this phone was its performance.

The brand is now all set to unveil its successor in China, the Redmi Turbo 4. The official launch is scheduled for January 2, and the company has now shared the official images on Weibo, revealing the design.

Design-wise, the Redmi Turbo 4 looks similar to the Redmi Turbo 3 because of those two big circles on the back for the two cameras. But this time, there is a camera island that has these two circles. The official images show a color option with a two-tone design on the rear and a vertical red line in the middle. The lack of antenna lines means that the phone has a plastic frame. The text on the back reveals that the primary camera has a 50MP sensor with an f/1.5 aperture lens and OIS. The back has frosted glass, and there is a multicolor LED ring around the two cameras.

On the front, the Redmi Turbo 4 has a flat panel with minimal bezels.

Speaking of the specifications, Redmi has officially revealed that the phone is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 8400-ULTRA chipset. This is the successor to the Dimensity 8300-ULTRA, which powered phones such as the Redmi K70E, Xiaomi 14T, Poco X6 Pro, etc. The Dimensity 8400 features a CPU with an all-big core architecture where the CPU has eight Cortex-A725 cores and the clock speed goes up to 3.25GHz. MediaTek claims a 41% improvement in the multi-core performance over the Dimensity 8300’s CPU. The GPU is the Mali-G720 MC7 which offers a 24% better performance than its predecessor.

In short, we can say the MediaTek Dimensity 8400 sits between the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 & 8 Gen 3 in performance.

The Redmi Turbo 4 is expected to launch globally as the Poco X7 Pro.
