Honor is preparing to launch a new smartphone in China with a high-end chipset named the Honor GT. This will be a flagship killer kind of device from the brand, and while the official launch is scheduled for December 16, the specifications of the phone have leaked on Weibo. These were shared by Digital Chat Station.
This phone seems like a successor to the Honor 90 GT that was launched last year with Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, a 50MP + 12MP dual rear camera setup, a 5,000mAh battery, and 100W wired charging.
Honor has already shared the design of the phone. The Honor GT has a flat-frame design with a flat display on the front. There is a dual camera setup on the back placed in the top left corner. The camera module says “GT” in the bottom right corner. There are stereo speakers, and the lack of antenna lines means that the phone has a plastic frame.
Speaking of the specifications, the phone has a 6.7-inch 1.5K (2664 x 1200 pixels) 120Hz LTPS OLED display with a 3840Hz PWM dimming. This sounds like the same display as the Honor 90 GT.
The phone is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and it is the normal version with the CPU clocked at up to 3.3GHz. It is worth mentioning that the Honor 300 Pro & Honor 300 Ultra were launched recently with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset that has a CPU clocked at up to 3.0GHz.
The Honor GT has up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of internal storage.
As for the cameras, the primary rear camera uses a 1/1.56″ 50MP Sony IMX906 sensor with OIS and an f/1.9 aperture. The second camera on the rear has a 12MP sensor, and it is most likely an ultrawide camera. There is a 16MP selfie shooter. The fingerprint scanner is placed under the display. So, the camera setup is identical to the Honor 90 GT.
The phone is quite slim at 7.7mm and weighs 196g. The device is reportedly launching with a 6,000mAh battery and has 100W wired charging support.
The Honor GT is launching in three color options. The rumored starting price is ¥1999 (~$275) which, if true, will make it the absolute flagship killer smartphone.
The competition includes the likes of Realme Neo 7 which was recently launched with a 7,000mAh battery and Dimensity 9300+ SOC for ¥2099 (~$290).
There is also the Redmi K80, which starts at ¥2499 and offers a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SOC, a Quad-HD+ display, a 6,550mAh battery, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, an IP68 rating, and a Light Fusion 800 camera sensor.
At ¥2299 (~$320), we have the iQOO Neo 10 with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, a 6,100mAh battery, an 8T LTPO OLED display, an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, and a 50MP Sony IMX921 sensor.
It is not yet known whether Honor has plans to launch the phone outside China.¥2299 (~$320)
