Samsung Galaxy S26/S26+ vs Galaxy S25/S25+ – Here are the differences

The Samsung Galaxy S26 series is set to launch early next year, and we have already seen a ton of leaks, some revealing the design and others revealing the features. Well, in this article, let’s compare the Samsung Galaxy S26/S26+ and Galaxy 25/S25+ based on the leaked specifications. These details were shared by Ice Universe on X.

Starting with the display, the Samsung Galaxy S26 has a slightly larger 6.3-inch display versus a 6.2-inch panel on the Galaxy S25. The peak brightness is reportedly the same at 2600 nits, and it is an LTPO panel with a 1-120Hz refresh rate. While the Samsung Galaxy S25 was launched with 128GB storage in the base model in some markets, the Galaxy S26 is coming with 256GB storage as the base. There is 12GB RAM.

As for the performance, the Samsung Galaxy S26 features either the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 or the Exynos 2600 chipset, depending on the market. For comparison, the Galaxy S25 was launched with Snapdragon 8 Elite in all markets.

The battery is slightly larger this time at 4,300mAh, compared to a 4,000mAh battery in the Galaxy S25. The peak charging speed is still capped at 25W. Despite having a bigger battery, the Samsung Galaxy S26 is 6.9mm thick, slightly slimmer than the 7.2mm Galaxy S25. The phone weighs 164g, compared to the 162g Galaxy S25.

Finally, let’s talk about the cameras. It looks like Samsung has kept the same camera setup as the Galaxy S25, at least on paper. There are three rear cameras. The primary rear camera has a 50MP sensor, the ultrawide camera has a 12MP sensor, and the 3x telephoto camera has a 1/3.94″ 10MP sensor. There is a 12MP selfie camera.

Next, let’s compare the leaked specifications of the Samsung Galaxy S26+ with those of the Galaxy S25+. The Samsung Galaxy S26+ has the same 6.7-inch Quad-HD+ display with  2600 nits peak brightness and a 1-120Hz refresh rate. Again, there is the same chipset situation here as in the case of the S26. So, some regions are getting the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, while others are getting the Exynos 2600. There is 12GB of RAM with 256GB or 512GB of internal storage.

The battery size & charging speed remain unchanged, as the Galaxy S26 has a 4,900mAh battery with 45W fast wired charging.

Even the camera setup is the same on paper. There is a triple camera setup on the rear with a 50MP primary camera, a 12MP ultrawide, and a 1/3.94″ 10MP 3x telephoto camera. There is a 12MP selfie shooter.

The Samsung Galaxy S26+ is slightly heavier at 194g, but the thickness is the same at 7.3mm.

Well, it looks like there is hardly any difference versus the Galaxy S25 series. The Samsung Galaxy S26 has a slightly bigger display, a slightly larger battery, starts with 256GB storage, and has better performance than the Galaxy S25. The Galaxy S26+ has a better performance and is slightly heavier than the Galaxy S25+. It is a shame that Samsung is sticking with the same old camera setup (if the leaks are correct), especially the telephoto camera, which still uses a much smaller sensor than other smartphones in the market in not only in the premium segment but also in the mid-range segment.

Let’s see how much of a price difference there is versus the previous generation models.
