ZTE Axon 30 high-quality images surface on Weibo

This is company's 2nd phone with an under-display selfie camera

ZTE Axon 30 is launching officially on the 27th of July in China & as the name shows, this is the successor of Axon 20 of last year, which made highlights due to its under-display selfie camera. That was the first attempt from ZTE; hence not 100% perfect. But this time, ZTE has improved the under-display camera tech a lot from last year. Ahead of the July 27th launch, we have now got some high-quality images of the device, thanks to Digital Chat Station on Weibo. Moreover, a couple of hands-on videos of the phone were also shared by different sources on Weibo.

Design-wise, we can see that the ZTE Axon 30 comes with a rectangular camera module on the back with four cameras in it. It is not as big as the one on Axon 30 Ultra since the camera sensors are not of the same size. The “ZTE 5G” as well as the “Axon” branding is there on the rear. On the front, there is a flat display with no notch or punch-hole cutout since the selfie camera is placed under the display. It is present in the middle on top, just as in the case of last year’s Axon 20.

One thing to note in the last year’s ZTE Axon 20 was that you were able to spot the location of the camera under the display since there was a pixelated square around that area which was visible on light backgrounds. But that doesn’t seem to be the case with ZTE Axon 30 since even with a plain white background, we are not able to see any distortions in the area of the panel under which the selfie camera is placed. So this clearly shows the under-display selfie camera tech has been improved a lot from last year. Speaking of the selfie camera, it is expected to have a 16 Megapixel sensor.

Digital Chat Station also revealed that the ZTE Axon 30 comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 870 5G & there is a 64 Megapixel Quad camera array on the back. The phone is 7.9mm thick & weighs around 189 grams. The OLED panel features a 120Hz refresh rate which is an upgrade from last year’s 90Hz OLED. It is said that the display size is 6.92-inches which is larger than even the Axon 30 Ultra’s display (6.67-inch). That’s interesting! The image above also shows that Android 11 runs out of the box with the company’s MyOS 11 running on top.

The image above was shared by ZTE & it shows a special edition of the phone. ZTE also revealed that the panel on the front is a 10-bit panel capable of displaying over 1 Billion colors & has a 100%DCI-P3 color gamut.

Well, the launch is happening in a few days & like last year, we are expecting ZTE to launch the Axon 30 in markets outside of China. The pricing is still a mystery.
