After capturing the budget smartphone market in India, Xiaomi is now looking for the flagship segment. We have not seen any phone from Xiaomi this year in the flagship segment in India, and there are no chances of Mi 8 launching in the Indian market. But, the company is indeed going to launch a flagship device this month, under its new sub-brand ‘Poco’. The Poco F1 will be the first smartphone from the company, and it is going to be one of the cheapest Snapdragon 845-powered devices when it launches.
The company has now officially confirmed that the phone is launching in India this month with the name Poco F1 and the launch will take place on August 22 in New Delhi. There isn’t anything left to know about the device as we already know almost everything about the phone. In fact, the unboxing and hands-on video of the phone is already there on YouTube so you can check that as well.
Still, if you don’t know, the Xiaomi Poco F1 has a 5.99-inch Full-HD+ IPS LCD panel (with notch), and the Snapdragon 845 processor powers it. There is 6/8GB RAM and 64/128/256GB internal storage. Under the hood, the phone packs a big 4,000mAh battery, and there is Quick Charge 3.0 support as well. The Poco F1 has a dual rear camera setup with the primary 12MP sensor and a secondary 5MP sensor, just like the one on Mi 8 SE. On the front, there is a 20MP camera.
The phone also has a Liquid Cooling system, but we will have to wait for the official launch to know more about it. Android Oreo runs out of the box with the MIUI skin on top.
The biggest competitor of the phone in India is going to be the Asus Zenfone 5Z, the price of which starts from Rs 29,999. It is right now the cheapest Snapdragon 845 device you can get, and if Xiaomi prices the Poco F1 even cheaper, then it is going to be interesting. The price F1 starts at $489 that translates to around Rs 34K. But, we are sure that the company will launch the phone in India at much lower pricing.
