Last month, the Xiaomi Mi A3 launched in Spain with specs like Snapdragon 665 SOC, a triple rear camera setup, an AMOLED display, a big battery & more. Today, the company announced the launch date in India & so, the Mi A3 is officially launching on August 21 in the Indian market.
The phone will be available to buy via Amazon India & Mi.com. The price is not yet known, but it could be around Rs 16-17K since Xiaomi doesn’t’ usually price its Android One phone very aggressively so that they don’t compete with company’s other phones with MIUI.
The Xiaomi Mi A3 fixes almost every issue with the Xiaomi Mi A2 but has its cons too. Talking about the good things, the phone has a premium glass back, an AMOLED display, a big 4,030mAh battery, a headphone jack, expandable storage, in-screen fingerprint scanner & triple rear cameras. Now, despite being an AMOLED panel, the resolution is still HD+ or 720p, so that’s weird as Xiaomi is going to launch it in the mid-range segment.
While the phone seems to be a significant upgrade from the Mi A2, the Xiaomi Mi A3 has Snapdragon 665 which is not a huge upgrade from Mi A2’s Snapdragon 660. In fact, its CPU is less powerful due to lower clock speed.
And yes, the CPU is the same on both Snapdragon 660 & 665. The difference comes in the form of GPU where the Mi A3 has the edge over the Mi A2.
The triple camera setup on the rear includes a primary 48 Megapixel Sony IMX 586 sensor, an 8MP secondary ultra-wide-angle camera with 118-degree FOV, & a 2MP depth sensor. There is a 32MP front camera.
Since it is an Android One phone, it runs on pure stock Android instead of MIUI. The Xiaomi Mi A3 launched in Spain with 4GB RAM, and 64/128GB ROM so let’s see if Xiaomi launches both the variants in India or just one.
