Xiaomi is all set to launch the Mi 9 on February 20 in China, i.e., on the same day when Samsung is launching its Galaxy S10 Lineup. We haven’t heard a lot about the Xiaomi Mi 9 in the past, but after the launch date was announced, Xiaomi itself revealed the design of Mi 9 from the rear.
So, one thing that’s officially confirmed is the triple camera setup on the back. Today, the hands-on images of the phone appeared which revealed the design from the front as well as the rear.
So, unlike the Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 that has a slider and a bezel-less display, the Xiaomi Mi 9 has a waterdrop notch like the Redmi Note 7. Along with this, there is also a noticeable bottom bezel. So, the design is not something that is unique or different from the rest of the phones. Still, Lei Jun said on Weibo that is is the best looking ‘Mi’ phone so far.
Coming to the rear, there is only a triple camera setup on the back, and that’s it. There is no fingerprint scanner since it is placed under the display on the front. Last year, the Xiaomi Mi 8 launched with a rear-facing fingerprint scanner, but the Mi 8 Explorer Edition had one under the display.
This year, Xiaomi Mi 9 is coming with an in-display fingerprint scanner, but we might still see an ‘Explorer Edition.’ It is not confirmed whether this is an optical fingerprint scanner or an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner like the one on S10 and S10+.
Finally, talking about the specifications that we know so far, the Xiaomi Mi 9 has a 6.4-inch FHD+ AMOLED display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection. There is Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor and the phone shown in the images above has 6GB RAM & 128GB ROM. The triple camera setup on the rear includes a primary 48MP Sony IMX 586 sensor, a secondary 12MP sensor (maybe a telephoto camera) and a third ToF camera.
The Mi 9 reportedly has a 3,500mAh battery and supports 27W Fast Charging via the USB Type-C port. It is not yet confirmed if Wireless is Charging is there or not.
