Xiaomi 64MP camera tech unveiled, debuting with a Redmi phone

About three months back, Samsung unveiled the 64MP ISOCELL GW1 sensor for smartphones & today, Xiaomi became the world’s first brand that unveiled the 64MP camera technology for phones. Only the Xiaomi 64MP camera tech was unveiled today & not any phone. But, the company did announce that the upcoming Redmi device is going to be one of the first phones in the world to feature a 64MP camera on the rear.

The GW1 sensor from Samsung is a large 1/1.7″ sensor with 1.6-micron pixel size (via Tetra Cell technology) & has some features like Smart ISO, Hybrid 3D HDR, ISOCELL Plus for Improved color reproduction and more. Just as we saw in case of the 48MP camera sensor, the 64MP camera sensor produces photos with stunning details even when you zoom in.

There is Dual Conversion Gain (DCG) as well that converts the received light into an electric signal according to the illumination of the environment. This camera sensor allows shooting 480fps slow-motion videos at 1080p.

Now, Redmi will launch a phone with a 64MP camera & as per the rumors, it is going to be the Redmi Note 8 or the Redmi Note 8 Pro which as already been confirmed by the General Manager of Redmi, Lu Weibing.

Tomorrow, Realme is also unveiling the 64MP Quad Camera technology & is also expected to announce which phone is coming with this technology (It could be the Realme 5 or Realme 5 Pro).
