Xiaomi 15 & Xiaomi 15 Pro official images reveal the design

Launching on October 29!

A year ago, we got the Xiaomi 14 & Xiaomi 14 Pro with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset. These were the world’s first phones to launch with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SOC. The brand is now all set to launch the Xiaomi 15 series in China on October 29. We are getting two phones that day – Xiaomi 15 & Xiaomi 15 Pro.

While we still have a couple of days left for the official launch, the brand has already shared a lot of details on Weibo, so in this article, let’s discuss all of that.

Starting with the design first, the Xiaomi 15 Pro has a similar square-shaped camera module on the back but one design change is the placement of the LED flash. It now sits outside the camera module, and the reason is the periscope telephoto camera. For comparison, the Xiaomi 14 Pro had a normal telephoto camera with a 3.2x optical zoom.

The phone is slimmer than its predecessor at 8.35mm (versus 8.5mm), and also lighter at 213g (versus 223g). There is Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal glass 2.0 for the display and likely for the rear as well. Finally, the phone has a metal frame with curved edges. On the front, the Xiaomi 15 Pro has a micro-curved display where the display is flat but the glass on top is slightly curved on all four sides.

The Xiaomi 15 Pro has an ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner, versus an optical one on the Xiaomi 14 Pro.

The vanilla model has a similar design as the Xiaomi 15 Pro, but it does not have a periscope telephoto camera on the rear. The phone has 1.38mm symmetrical bezels, and the display measures 6.36 inches, the same size as the Xiaomi 14.

Speaking of the specifications that we know so far, Xiaomi has revealed that the 15 Pro has a 6,100mAh battery, the largest battery ever on a “Pro” flagship by Xiaomi. For comparison, the Xiaomi 14 Pro features a 4,880mAh battery. The periscope telephoto camera on the 15 Pro offers a 5x optical zoom, an upgrade from the 3.2x telephoto on the 14 Pro. This is said to be a 50MP Sony IMX858 sensor with an f/2.5 lens. There is a Quad-HD+ display.

Xiaomi says the battery life of the Xiaomi 15 is improved by up to 23% and that of the Xiaomi 15 Pro by up to 38% versus their predecessors. The new display has 10% lower power consumption, and the peak brightness is 3,200 nits.

And that’s all we know so far about the Xiaomi 15 series. There is no information on the global launch, and it is still a mystery whether we would see the Xiaomi 15 Pro launching outside China since the Xiaomi 14 Pro never made it outside the Chinese market.
