The Xiaomi 13 is now official, and this is the company’s latest flagship phone, powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. This is almost a completely different phone than its predecessor, the Xiaomi 12. The reason is that not only the specifications but the overall look and feel of the phone are entirely different this time. Unsurprisingly, the Xiaomi 13 is more expensive than the Xiaomi 12, but the price difference is not massive (¥3699 vs. ¥3999).

Xiaomi 13

Xiaomi 13 has a premium design with flat sides and a flat display. It is not hard to figure out from where Xiaomi got the inspiration for this design. For comparison, the Xiaomi 12 had a curved display and curved sides. All the color options except Blue have a glossy glass back. The Blue color option has a leather-like finish on the back, and Xiaomi says this material is made via the new Nano Skin technology, which makes it scratch and dirt-resistant.

All the color options feature a frame with a glossy finish.

There is a stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support, and the phone is IP68 certified.

On the front, Xiaomi 13 has a gorgeous 6.36-inch flat OLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate, and 1900 nits peak brightness. The panel supports Dolby Vision and HDR10+. It is also worth mentioning that this is an 8-bit display and not a 12-bit panel like the Xiaomi 12. The fingerprint scanner sits under the display.

Under the hood, Xiaomi 13 has the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. For better thermals, the phone has a 4642mm² Vapor Chamber that covers almost 42.5% of the phone’s body.

The battery size is 4,500mAh, and along with 67W fast wired charging, the phone also features 50W fast wireless charging & 10W reverse wireless charging.

Finally, we come to the cameras. Xiaomi 13 has a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 54MP 1/1.49″ Sony IMX800 sensor with HyperOIS and a 23mm f/1.8 lens. The second camera is for ultrawide photos and has a 12MP 1/3.06″ sensor with a 15mm 120-degree lens. The third camera is for zoom shots and has a 10MP 1/3.75″ sensor with OIS and a 75mm lens. The phone can shoot 4K videos at up to 60fps and 8K videos at 24fps. One of the highlights of this camera is the “LEICA” additions. You can choose between two LEICA styles for your photos – Leica Classic and Leica Vivid.

Xiaomi said it worked with Leica to develop a color database so that the colors that you get out of the camera are closer to what your eyes see. The phone comes with a bunch of Leica filters too. Some other camera features include 10-bit Log, 4K Ultra Night Video, Cinematic mode, etc.

For selfies, the phone has a 32MP camera.
