Xiaomi 12T Pro will feature 200MP Samsung HP1 sensor

Looks like 200MP camera phones will be pretty normal soon

Every year, apart from its regular number series flagships, Xiaomi also launches the “T” series in the second half. For example, last year, we got Xiaomi 11 series in the first half and the Xiaomi 11T series in the second half. Similarly, we are soon getting the Xiaomi 12T series which will include at least two phones, the vanilla Xiaomi 12T & the Xiaomi 12T Pro.

The 12T Pro will be a high-end flagship, and the design, as well as most of the specifications, are going to be the same as the recently launched Redmi K50 Extreme Edition. Maybe that is the reason why the K50 Extreme Edition has a design inspired by the Xiaomi 12 series.

Today, a French website named Phonandroid shared the exclusive live images of the 12T Pro, which revealed that this is going to be the first Xiaomi smartphone featuring a 200-megapixel camera sensor. It is most likely the Samsung HP1 sensor that is also present on the recently launched Moto X30 Pro. This is a 1/1.22-inch camera sensor with an individual pixel size of 0.64-micron.

It is also worth noting that Samsung has also launched the HP3 camera sensor, but with its smaller 0.56-micron individual pixel size & a smaller 1/1.4″ size, it is highly unlikely that Xiaomi has gone for the HP3 sensor over the HP1 on the 12T Pro.

Apart from the camera sensor, there does not seem to be any difference between Xiaomi 12T Pro and the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition. So, the 12T Pro is powered by Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 SOC and has a 6.67-inch OLED panel with a 1.5K resolution & up to 120Hz refresh rate. The battery size is 5,000mAH, and the phone supports 120W fast charging.

As for the price, a Twitter user,@_snoopytech_, revealed that the 8GB + 256GB variant of vanilla Xiaomi 12T would be priced at €649, whereas the 12T Pro at €849. The color options are Blue, Black & Silver, similar to the Redmi K50 Extreme Edition.
