As we know, the Xiaomi 12S series is launching in China tomorrow, i.e., on the 4th of July. We also know some details, such as the camera sensors on each of the three phones. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra comes with the 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor, which is the largest camera sensor for smartphones by Sony. The other two phones have the Sony IMX707 sensor for the primary camera. Xiaomi has also shared the design of the 12S & 12S Pro since these phones don’t look much different than the 12 & 12 Pro. But, the star of tomorrow’s launch event is going to be the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. This is the reason why the brand has not yet shared the design of this phone.
But, as we know, it is hard to keep the design of a phone a secret nowadays. Today, we got to see the design of the 12S Ultra and that massive camera module on the rear.
So, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra has a circular camera module on the rear that has all the camera sensors. This circular camera module itself is placed in a rectangular housing that covers the whole width of the phone. The LEICA branding is on the top left corner of this rectangular area, and while there were reports that we would see the LEICA’s iconic red logo, that is not happening. The circular camera module has some text printed on it, such as “1 INCH ULTRA CMOS”, “VARIO-SUMMICRON,” etc. The image reveals at least three camera sensors, one of which has a periscope lens.
The back has a leather finish, and as we know, there is a green color option too.
Xiaomi 12S Ultra has a Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset, Sony IMX989 camera sensor, and 120W fast charging.
