The Xiaomi 12 series made its debut back in December last year, and later in March this year, it launched in the global market as well. Today, the Xiaomi 12 Pro launched in the Indian market and the price starts at ₹62,999. For the price, you are getting a premium flagship phone with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SOC, a premium display, wireless charging, and a crazy camera setup that includes three 50MP sensors.
The design of the Xiaomi 12 Pro is beautiful with the symmetrical camera module, curved display, and a matte glass back. The phone also packs India’s first Quad stereo speaker setup in a phone. There are two tweeters and two woofers. The speakers are tuned by Harman Kardon, and there is Dolby Atmos support too. One thing that this phone lacks is IP68 certification, and this is something companies should offer in their premium flagship phones.
The display on the front is an absolute stunner. This is a 6.73-inch Samsung’s 10-bit E5 LTPO 2.0 AMOLED with a Quad-HD+ resolution, 1500 nits of peak brightness, 120Hz refresh rate, 480Hz touch sampling rate, 16,000 levels of brightness adjustment, and HDR10+ support. Being an LTPO 2.0 panel, the refresh rate can go as low as 1Hz when required. There is Dolby Vision support, too, and the panel is protected with Gorilla Glass Victus.
Under the hood, there is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SOC along with LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.1 storage. To manage the thermals, there is a large vapor chamber and three graphite sheets. The battery size is 4,600mAh, and there is 120W HyperCharge along with 50W fast wireless charging. Xiaomi also used the in-house Surge P1 chip that enhances battery capacity and output and increases the charging efficiency.
The camera setup is quite unique. This is the first phone to offer three 50MP sensors. There is a primary 50MP 1/1.28” Sony IMX707 sensor with OIS, f/1.9 lens, and 1.22μm pixel size. Then there is a 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor with an ultrawide lens (115˚) and finally a 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor with a 2X Optical Zoom lens. Some camera features of this phone include ProFocus, Night Mode, Ultra Night Photo, Ultra Night Video, Portrait HDR, 8K video recording, HDR10+ video recording, etc.
For selfies, there is a 32MP sensor that can shoot HDR10+ videos too.
MIUI 13 runs out of the box that is based on Android 12.
