The Vivo X90 series was launched in November in the Chinese market and included three phones –  X90, X90 Pro, and X90 Pro+.  Five months later, the X90 series was launched in the Indian market today. The X90 Pro+ did not reach the Indian market, so the company has launched only the vanilla X90 & the X90 Pro. The X series by Vivo is known for great cameras, and the X90 series is no exception.

VIVO X90

The Vivo X90 features a Fluorite AG Glass back, a circular camera module, and Gorilla Glass 6 protection. A glossy strip on the rear says “Xtreme Imagination” and “VIVO | ZEISS co-engineered.” The phone has the ZEISS branding on the back and the “T*” printed on the camera module. If you don’t know, the ZEISS T* coating is an anti-reflective coating, and it is present on all the rear cameras on the X90. It helps reduce lens flares and ghost image issues and get more clarity in the images.

Speaking of the rest of the design, the phone has a curved display on the front with a hole punch cutout in the center. The fingerprint sensor is under the display, and the phone has an X-axis linear motor. There is a stereo speaker setup, and the phone is IP64 rated.

The display is a 6.78-inch Full-HD+ 10-bit AMOLED with 1300 nits local peak brightness, HDR10+ support, and 120Hz refresh rate. The panel supports hardware-level 2160Hz PWM dimming. Under the hood, the phone has the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chipset, featuring the Cortex-X3 core clocked at up to 3.05GHz. Vivo has also added the in-house V2 imaging chip that handles image processing and offers MEMC dynamic frame interpolation, high dynamic range, AI noise reduction, etc.

The battery size is 4,810mAh, and the phone supports 120W fast charging.

Coming to the cameras, Vivo X90 has a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 50MP Sony IMX866vcs sensor with OIS, the ultrawide camera has a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor, and the 2x telephoto camera has a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor. There is a Laser Focus sensor on the rear as well. For selfies, the phone has a 32MP camera. 4K video recording is supported at up to 60fps.

Finally, Android 13 runs out of the box, and the phone will get three major Android OS updates.

VIVO X90 PRO

VIVO X90 PRO

The Vivo X90 Pro is a premium flagship, so it gets all the features we expect in premium phones, such as IP68 certification, wireless charging, a vegan leather finish on the back, etc. All these are absent in the vanilla X90.

But not everything is different in the X90 Pro. The display remains the same, and so does the SOC.

The main upgrade is in the camera department. Vivo X90 Pro has a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera has a 1-inch 50MP Sony IMX989 sensor with OIS, the ultrawide camera has a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor (same as the vanilla model), and the telephoto camera has a 50MP Sony IMX758 sensor with OIS. The phone can shoot 8K videos at up to 24fps. The selfie camera is the same as X90.

Vivo X90 Pro gets a bigger 4,870mAh battery, and while the wired charging speed is the same at 120W, the X90 Pro supports 50W wireless charging.
