The Vivo X series is known for its premium design and impressive cameras. Today, the Vivo X90 series launched in the Chinese market, and three new flagship phones were unveiled. These are Vivo X90, X90 Pro, and X90 Pro+. In this article, we will discuss the X90 & X90 Pro, both of which feature the latest Dimensity 9200 chipset. For comparison, the Vivo X80 & X80 Pro launched with Dimensity 9000 chipset (the X80 Pro also had a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 variant).

Design-wise, the Vivo X90 comes in three colors, and this time, Vivo removed the camera island that was present on the Vivo X80. The circular camera module is still the same. There is a separate chrome strip below the camera module that has some text on it. The display is curved on the sides, with a hole punch cutout in the middle. The phone is IP64 rated, meaning total protection from dust and protection against water splashes from all directions. The phone has stereo speakers.

Under the hood, Vivo X90 has MediaTek Dimensity 9200 chipset, which is the most powerful SOC by MediaTek. The main USP of this SOC is the Immortalis-G715 GPU which offers a significant boost in GPU performance compared to the previous Dimensity 9000 series. The phone has LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 4.0 storage.

Coming to the cameras, there are three rear cameras. The primary camera has a 50MP Sony IMX866 sensor with OIS, the secondary camera has a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor with an ultrawide lens, the third camera has a 12MP Sony IMX663 with a 50mm lens, and finally, there is a dTOF laser focus sensor. The front camera has a 32MP sensor. For better image processing, there is a Vivo V2 chip.

Vivo X90 comes with a 4,810mAh battery and supports 120W fast charging. Finally, there is a 6.78-inch 120Hz AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution, 10-bit color depth, and 1300 nits peak brightness.

Vivo X90 comes in three colors – Red, Black, and Blue. Here is the pricing for the Chinese market –

  • 8GB + 128GB – ¥3699 ($519 / ₹42,000)
  • 8GB + 256GB – ¥3999 ($559 / ₹46,000)
  • 12GB + 256GB – ¥4499 ($629 / ₹52,000)
  • 12GB + 512GB – ¥4999 ($699 / ₹57,000)

The Vivo X90 Pro has the same design as the vanilla X90. There are two color options – Red and Black, with a leather finish on the back. Speaking of the similarities first, there is the same display, the same chipset, the same charging speed (wired), and the same selfie camera.

The phone features LPDDR5X RAM, that’s faster than the LPDDR5 RAM that the Vivo X90 has. There is also a slightly larger 4870mAh battery, and the X90 Pro supports 50W wireless charging, which the vanilla model doesn’t.

Camera-wise, Vivo X90 Pro has a primary camera with a 1-inch Sony IMX989 sensor + OIS, an ultrawide camera with a 12MP Sony IMX663 sensor, and a 50mm lens with a 50MP Sony IMX758 sensor + OIS.

Another notable difference between X90 & X90 Pro is that the latter has an IP68 rating (X90 has IP64).
