In October last year, the Vivo X200 and X200 Pro were launched in China with high-end specifications and impressive cameras. The Vivo X200 Pro was and still is one of the best camera phones that you can get. Today, the Vivo X300 and Vivo X300 Pro were launched in China, and they come with some big upgrades over their predecessors.

VIVO X300

Vivo X300

Starting with the vanilla model, the Vivo X300 looks identical to its predecessor with that circular camera module, a triple camera setup, ZEISS branding, a flat frame, and a flat display. The LED flash is now placed in the top left corner instead of the top right corner. But the biggest design change is in the form factor. The Vivo X300 is a compact flagship phone, unlike its predecessor.

For comparison, the Vivo X200 featured a 6.67-inch display, whereas the Vivo X300 has a 6.31-inch panel. The X300 is IP68 and IP69-certified, has a stereo speaker setup, and an upgraded ultrasonic under-display fingerprint scanner.

Under the hood, the Vivo X300 is using the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. There is a massive 6,040mAh battery, bigger than the 5,800mAh battery in the Vivo X200. It is impressive that the X300, despite having a smaller size, packs a bigger battery than its predecessor. The phone supports 90W fast wired charging and 40W fast wireless charging. For comparison, there was no wireless charging support for the Vivo X200. The phone also gets a USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port versus a USB 2.0 Type-C port in its predecessor.

The cameras are quite impressive. The Vivo X300 has a triple camera setup on the rear. The primary camera uses a massive 1/1.1.4″ 200MP Samsung HPB sensor with a large f/1.68 aperture lens. The lens has CIPA 4.5 stabilization. The periscope telephoto camera uses a 1/1.95″ 50MP Sony LYT-602 sensor with CIPA 4.5 stabilization and a 75mm lens. The ultrawide camera has a 1/2.76″ 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor with an f/2.0 aperture lens. All the cameras on the rear have ZEISS T* coating.

Finally, we have a 1/2.76″ 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor for the selfie camera. So, the main upgrade here is in the primary camera, which has a much bigger sensor than the Vivo X200’s 1/1.56″ 50MP Sony IMX921 sensor.

The display is a 6.31-inch BOE Q10+ 8T LTPO OLED with a 120Hz refresh rate, 4500 nits local peak brightness, a 10-bit color depth, HDR10+ support, and 2160Hz high-frequency PWM dimming.

The phone has an upgraded vibration motor and a multispectral sensor for better colors in the images.

Finally, it runs on Android 16-based OriginOS 6 out of the box.

VIVO X300 PRO

Vivo X300 Pro

Let’s talk about the beast, the Vivo X300 Pro. This is definitely one of the best camera phones you can get right now, so let’s talk about cameras first.

The Vivo X300 Pro has three cameras on the rear. The primary camera has a 1/1.28-inch Sony LYT-828 sensor with a large f/1.57 aperture lens, a 24mm focal length, ZEISS T* coating, and CIPA 5.5 stabilization. For comparison, the Vivo X200 Pro featured a 1/1.28-inch Sony LYT-818 sensor with CIPA 4.5 stabilization. The periscope telephoto camera uses a massive 1/1.4″ 200MP Samsung HPB sensor with an 85mm lens (3.5x optical zoom), ZEISS T* coating, 20x telephoto macro, and CIPA 5.5 stabilization. The third camera takes ultrawide photos, and it has a 1/2.76″ 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor with autofocus and ZEISS T* coating. The selfie camera has a 1/2.76″ 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor.

The phone packs some custom chips under the hood. There is Vivo’s VS1 chip, which is responsible for pre-processing the data, and the phone has the Vivo V3+ chip that takes care of post-processing. These two combined result in some impressive image processing.

The phone can shoot 4K 60fps portrait videos and 4K 120fps Dolby Vision HDR videos. If you want more control, there is support for 4K 120fps 10-bit log videos as well. There is also support for extra accessories, such as the ZEISS 2.35x telephoto extender that results in an equivalent focal length of 200mm when used with the telephoto camera on the Vivo X300 Pro.

Under the hood, the Vivo X300 Pro has the same MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, LPDDR5X RAM, and UFS 4.1 storage as the Vivo X300. The battery is 6,510mAh and the phone supports 90W wired charging + 40W wireless charging.
