The Vivo X200 & X200 Pro were launched in China in October last year with the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chipset and impressive cameras. Last year, we also got the Vivo X100 Ultra in May, featuring a large 1/1.4″ 200MP Samsung HP9 sensor for the periscope telephoto camera. In fact, the X100 Ultra was launched as the smartphone with the largest sensor for the telephoto camera.
The brand is all set to launch its successor, the Vivo X200 Ultra, in the Chinese market. The launch is scheduled for April 21, and the Vivo X200s series will also be launching at the event.
Vivo has already given us the first look at the design of the X200 Ultra, and some hands-on images of the phone are also available on Weibo. The phone has a similar circular camera module as the X200 Pro, but the back has a different two-tone finish.
From the images making rounds on the internet, the Vivo X200 Ultra should launch in at least two colors – Silver and Red. The camera module has the ZEISS branding in the center, and one small design change versus the X200 Pro is the placement of the LED flash. It is in the top left corner in the X200 Ultra, versus the top right corner in the X200 Pro.
We already know the key specifications. The Vivo X200 Ultra has three cameras on the rear. The primary camera has a 1/1.28″ 50MP Sony LYT818 sensor with a 35mm f/1.69 lens. There is the same 1/1.28″ 50MP Sony LYT818 sensor for the ultrawide camera, making it the most powerful ultrawide camera on a smartphone, at least on paper. The Vivo X200 Pro had a way smaller 1/2.76″ 50MP sensor.
The third camera has a periscope telephoto lens and a large 1/1.4″ 200MP Samsung HP9X sensor with an 85mm f/2.27 lens. For comparison, the Vivo X200 Pro featured a 200MP HP9 sensor with an f/2.7 lens. The phone can shoot 4K 120fps videos, and the phone is equipped with two dedicated imaging chips – Vivo VS1 and Vivo V3+. The Vivo VS1 is a pre-processing chip and it is going to take care of things like exposure, focus, and more. The Vivo V3+ is meant for post-processing.
The phone has a 6.8-inch Quad-HD+ 8T LTPO OLED panel. The battery is 6,100mAh, and the phone supports 100W wired charging alongside 50W wireless charging. The thickness is 8.76mm and the phone weighs 226g.
The Vivo X200s does not look any different than the Vivo X200. The only design difference is going to be some new color options.
There is no information on the global launch yet.
