UPDATE – MAY 22
Vivo has postponed the launch of the T2 in China. The launch, previously taking place on the 23rd of May, is now happening on June 6th.
When it comes to the “T” series from Vivo, the names are quite confusing as they remain the same for different phones for different markets. For example, the Vivo T1 in China has Snapdragon 870, Vivo T1 in India has Snapdragon 695, and the Vivo T1 in Malaysia has Snapdragon 778G. And apart from the names, there are hardly any similarities between these phones. On the 23rd of May, the Vivo T2 is launching in China, and as the name suggests, it will offer upgrades over the T1.
The company has shared the first look on its official website, and the design looks identical to the iQOO Neo 6 SE, which makes us believe that the T2 is a rebrand of the iQOO Neo 6 SE.
As we can see, the only difference apart from the branding on the rear is the text on the camera module. In the case of iQOO Neo 6 SE, the camera module has ‘NEO’ printed on it along with other camera specs, but that is missing on the Vivo T2. And apart from that, this is the same-looking phone as the Neo 6 SE. Because the Vivo T1 in China had Snapdragon 870 and the same SOC powers Neo 6 SE, it makes us believe that the T2 is indeed a rebrand of that phone.
If there is no change in the specs, too, we are looking at a 6.62-inch 120Hz E4 AMOLED with 1300 nits peak brightness, HDR10+, and an in-display scanner. There is Snapdragon 870 SOC, LPDDR4X RAM, and UFS 3.1 storage. The triple camera array on the rear includes a 64MP primary sensor with OIS, an 8MP sensor with an ultrawide lens, and a 2MP macro camera. The battery size is 4,700mAH, and the charging speed is 80W. Finally, Android 12 runs out of the box.
