Just when we thought the trend of hole-punch displays is over, we have started getting more & more phones with hole-punch displays. In fact, next year’s flagships from OnePlus are also most likely coming with hole-punch screens if we believe the leaks. Today, Vivo launched its new mid-range phone in China named Vivo S5 & one interesting thing about this phone is that it has the smallest hole-punch on any phone at 2.98mm.
VIVO S5 – DESIGN & SPECIFICATIONS
Not just the front, but the design on the rear is also interesting as there is a unique diamond-shaped camera module that has three cameras & the LED flash. The fourth camera is placed outside this module. There is an in-display fingerprint scanner & if you can notice in the image above, the design of the fingerprint on the lock screen is similar to the design of the rear camera module. So that’s a nice touch.
The display on the front is a 6.44-inch Super AMOLED Full-HD+ panel with a resolution of 2400×1080 pixels. Qualcomm Snapdragon 712 SOC powers the phone along with 8GB RAM & 128/256GB internal storage. The battery underneath is a 4,100mAH unit & the phone also supports 22.5W Fast Charging via USB Type-C port.
Coming to the cameras, the Vivo S5 has a Quad camera setup on the rear that includes a primary 48 Megapixel Sony IMX 586 sensor, a secondary 8 Megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera, a 2 Megapixel macro lens & a 5 Megapixel depth sensor. On the front, there is a 32 Megapixel camera placed in that tiny hole-punch.
Funtouch OS 9.2, based on Android 9 Pie, runs out of the box.
