At the MWC 2019, we are going to see a lot of interesting devices. Talking about smartphones, this MWC will be all about 5G and Foldable phones. Samsung has already launched the Galaxy Fold as its first foldable phone, and Huawei Mate X is launching on February 24 as a foldable phone from Huawei with 5G. But, there are some more brands that will showcase their foldable devices at the event like Nubia, TCL, etc.
TCL showcased a couple of designs for its foldable phones, and they are interesting. Some images have been shared from the venue that reveal the phones and give us the very first look at the design.
As you can see above, one of the designs is similar to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold as it too has dual screens. One is the smaller cover display, and one is the main display on the inside. There is a Quad Camera setup on the rear, and the cover display gets a single camera.
There is a hinge in between that the company calls ‘DragonHinge.’ As the image above shows, the phone can be used as a tablet by unfolding it and to use that smaller screen, the screen can be completely folded inwards. Since the hinge is in the center, the size of the cover screen is half of the size of the main display.
The main screen is a 72-inch 2K AMOLED panel with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. There is a bezel-less design resulting in a screen-to-body ratio of 90.73%.
There is a dedicated UI for the Multitasking so we may see some extra features for multitasking like the Galaxy Fold which has features like App Continuity and multi-window.
Well, as there is not just a single foldable device that TCL will showcase at the event. There is another Foldable Phone that has a main display of a normal smartphone, and it can be further folded in a compact size. But, there is no extra display, so we guess there is no extra use of folding it except for making it compact. This one has triple cameras on the rear and a hinge in the center.
Well, these are a couple of foldable phones that TCL showcased at the MWC Barcelona. What do you think of the designs? Do let us know via the comments section.
