With smartphone makers going for fully bezel-less displays, there is Sony that hasn’t even got into the ‘notch’ bandwagon yet. It looks like the company isn’t ever going to since this year’s Xperia lineup will include phones with long 21:9 displays without any notches or cutouts. The Sony Xperia XZ4 is already confirmed to feature a 21:9 display but today, the press renders of the Sony Xperia XA3 revealed that this is yet another phone launching this year with that weird aspect ratio.
So, as the press renders above reveal, the Sony Xperia XA3 has no chin at all! But, there is a huge top bezel. It looks like Sony went for a completely opposite approach to what all the smartphone companies are doing. So, with most of the Android smartphones with bezel-less design, we see bottom bezels. But what Sony did was to remove the side and bottom bezels at the expense of that huge top bezel.
The XA3 has dual cameras on the rear placed horizontally, and there is no fingerprint scanner on the rear. No, the phone doesn’t have on under the screen. It is placed on the side which is not new for a Sony smartphone. Since the phone is so tall due to that 21:9 screen, the fingerprint scanner is placed in the middle so that it is easy to reach.
The USB Type-C port is placed on the bottom with the two speaker grills. The headphone jack is present on the top, so it is a good thing that Sony has kept that on the Xperia XA3.
As the above images suggest, the Sony Xperia XA3 will come in at least Black, Blue, Silver, and Pink. The specifications are not yet known, but since it is a mid-range phone, it might feature the Snapdragon 660, 4GB RAM, 64GB ROM, 3,500mAh battery, 23MP + 8MP dual cameras and more.
